Don’t under estimate the value in that. These guys will play hard for their state and be 100% committed to the team. Meanwhile other big programs will be fielding teams full of mercenaries.

I don't think the value can be overstated, TBH.

it sounds like cliche coach-speak but i do think there's value to this.

at this moment we need to get guys who WANT to be here. if that means filling the roster with some 3* in spots where we'd have 4/5* with Ed, so be it. things will work themselves out in the long term and we will get top guys again.

I think the longer value in this is something that isn’t discussed enough. These guys are still followed by their hometowns, high schools, and former teammates. These guys will be on the walls in the gyms/locker rooms wearing LSU uniforms. They’ll come back to games and town wearing LSU gear. They’ll have friends and family that are future recruits. It just builds LSU loyalty in every nook and cranny in the state and it can only help.

Foucha has been dying to play for lsu for years.

A senior safety who has been through the sec battles. He is a solid little safety.

Per capita Louisiana puts more players in NFL than any other state. Those 3 and 4 stars in the boot are better than those 4 and 5 in other states.

Funny how a guy from up North seems to make this his first priority. Shows you how everyone knows how talented LA players are

If Cain is your example it would be better if he built the team with "Boot guys" that actually look like SEC caliber players. Or maybe just focus on keeping the "Boot guys" that are already on the team.

Funny, was just talking about this with my son(LSU freshman). "Putting up a fence" around Louisiana isn't about chasing the 4-5 star recruits that everyone wants. You take the solid 3 star guys and it builds a pipeline to those schools. Players from those schools are more likely to follow friends from that school. The HS coaches appreciate that you show interest in their players beyond just the ones that the whole country wants, which gives you an edge with those future 4-5 stars. And, the obvious that has already been stated, those players are less likely to transfer once they are here and will play with more pride for the home team.

It just makes too much sense.

I like 'boot' guys. I also like 'Texas', 'Alabama' and 'Florida' guys.

Don't know why, but I'm not real fond of Mississippi guys. Maybe it's growing up right on the border. Come over to buy beer (18 state) and seemed to hang out a little too long.

Don't underestimate the value in that.

Fair enough, but looking around for a QB who is more than a great athlete against high school competition (i.e., who has a brain) will be key as well.
We look to be ok currently, but the 2025 starting QB needs to be recruited now.

Starting now? Because a LOT of LA kids have transferred out over the years.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to see some La boys come home. But we have got to add some 4-5 star talent. Simple fact. CBK has his work cut out for him.
