Napier will be fired in 3 years. Sorry to the “nutting over Napier” group on this board, but it’s going to happen. He will fail at Florida just like the last 3 coaches failed there.
I'm more curious than anything. I'm no Napier fanboy, but IF he doesn't damage his reputation at a stop, such as UF, has the potential being a very good coach.
However, recruiting Florida, poorly, was the primary causal factor in the previous UF coaching failures. With Mullen being the best-example/worst-performer.
So Napier going with what he knows early on, in a recruiting cycle, before even coaching a game has a logic. And that is recruiting LA until he gets his staff completely set and gets a year behind him.
But, if he doesn't adjust and hit FL hard your prediction is likely true. So doing what he is doing now is exactly what he should be doing as far as recruits he is targeting with the coaches he has. For now, it is low-hanging fruit and/or the best info he has (on recruits). Now that's one limitation to hiring from ULL, no matter the name; if they had hired from a P5 school the recruiting base or knowledge of that coach would be more geographically broad. But they didn't.
It comes down to does he adjust for the 2023 class, or is he going to continue with the same short-term plan, which would likely be a disaster.
