I live in Northern Virginia now. When you run across someone who grew up here you kind of ask them what the frick happened.
There is zero culture here, no identity and kids go to high schools that weren’t even here three years ago let alone going to a high school that their parents or grand parents went to. Given on one hand it’s great as there are no blue bloods to deal with, everything is new and nice and our tax dollars actually go towards what they’re supposed to go towards (school, roads, infrastructure). But damn it’s boring.
I like the low crime and ability to make more money, but after 12 years up here I’d still move home tomorrow. Just something about Louisiana and the south. It’s line the girlfriend you broke up with that keeps pulling you back in for more. My kids are entrenched in school now so I’m stuck until I retire in 15-17 years. Once they are done with college I will not let the door handle hit my arse on the way out.
