Considering that Orgeron literally burned the program to the ground, the fans will need to understand that this is a true rebuild. Putting arbitrary timelines and then want to fire a coach after two years is going to put us right back where we are.

This is exactly right. The good news is that with the transfer portal, rebuilding should be easier. I’m looking for CBK to use it like Tucker did to rebuild the team. But the reality is that the roster is a disaster. Even one class of transfers won’t do it.

I hope 9-3 is our floor after next year. But I think we all need to realize this could take a long time. The program is at a 20 year low and college football is changing rapidly. I think Kelly should be given a pretty long leash for 5 years as I think it might take some trial and error in this new environment.

“Rebuild” at LSU doesn’t necessarily mean the same thing it means at Arkansas. O absolutely torched many aspects of this program, but I can promise you all but 10-15 teams in the country would kill for the roster LSU has going into next season. Especially considering the transfer portal, there is a very good chance we are able to fill some of our holes and dominate teams with lesser talent en route to 8-9 wins in year one, possibly even 10 if things break right. Where the rebuild aspect comes in is although we have the talent to beat 95% of cfb teams, we don’t have the collection of top end talent or depth to compete with Alabama, georgia, Ohio state, etc. THAT is what will take 2-3 years to get back to. See Michigan state this year for an example. 11-2, ny6 win, but 56-7 loss to tOSU. People saying we should get ready for another 6-6 season are underselling the talent on the roster and the upgrade in coaching, just don’t expect a win over Alabama.
