Great movie, although I wasn't crazy about the ending.

Did you see the alternate ending?

The movie plays the zombies off as stupid monsters. In the book, they clearly had some form of intelligence and social structure.
In the alternate ending Will Smith realizes that they are more intelligent than he thought. He realizes they aren't after him, but they are trying to free the woman that he captured so he opens the door and releases the female.
I can't remember what they did to him after that.

He goes with the woman and the boy to find the colony. The alternate ending is way better.

I thought so. Yeah I liked that ending better.

I was flipping through the directv guide and saw that they are now playing this movie. I stopped to read the description and saw this:
"Vampires created by a man-made plague surround a lone survivor as he searches for a cure."
I thought these things were zombies?

The interviews in the beginning talk about how they made a new drug that cured cancer, but it obviously turns them into that.
Will Smith is immune, and before all shite breaks loose, he's working on a cure.

its supposed to be a society where the role of the vampire is switched and the only normal human is the outcast much like a vampire would be in normal society.

I thought the first three quarters of the movie was great. I hated the ending. I also thought it was a horrible decision to CGI the zombies. If they had done it like 28 Days Later, and had real actors, it would have been so much better.

It was ok, good even but not great.

They weren't zombies, they were "vampires". Zombies can go out in the daytime.
Anyway, I wish it would have told it more from the infected's perspective like I think the book did. Will Smith is a Legend to them, not to the other people who weren't infected. I also liked the alternate ending more, but I think the original one followed through with the fact that he had lost his mind.

I agree. I didn't know there was an alternate ending. But, after watching it, I think it would have been a better way to end the movie.

I was fricking pissed with the ending, such a letdown.

I think in the Vincent Price movie, the creatures were more vampiric in nature. And it wasn't just the fact they were "allergic" to UV light. I am just speculating though, i've only seen like 5 minuts of that movie. But I do know from reading articles that they definitely had a social structure and were facinated by the Will Smith Character.
