Don't recommend. Lots of better options. Fortenberry, Double D, Days, Tramontes, Bergerons etc

Used Armonds twice. Tamales were very average and they tricked up our sausage order, shite was terrible.

I’ve used armonds before and didn’t care for it. I use fortenberrys for the pineapple and brown sugar sausage, Bergerons for the ground meat mixed with ribeye fat, and Mickey browns for burritos. Bergerons makes burritos and they are good but my wife and kids like Mickey browns better. Also, a friend gave me some deer boudin from Ronnie’s and is was awesome

4-5 years ago. I wouldn't use Deer Depot either. 1st question you should always ask is if you are getting your own deer back. Not the case with Deer Depot.

In my experience Tramontes has the best flavored sausage (jalapeño cheese etc), plenty of good places to get reg and hot smoked sausage and ground meat. Fortenberry is fast, friendly and inexpensive for ground meat. I've heard good things about Days in Livingston but haven't used them

sorry, but if you think Double D is good,then I question your taste in sausage

Armond's wasn't bad when Preston owned it before he passed away suddenly at a relatively young age...Processing was good...Fresh sausages were good...However his smoking technique and result was not up to par

Now it's called Mel's Armond Meats...I believe Mel worked for Preston and bought/took over when Preston Armond passed.

I haven't processed there since his passing...Wish I could help you more

Edit to Add: Good friend at our lease had a deer done at Alacks in Loranger and the several different flavors of fresh sausage I tried were very good

I’m gonna try it. The boss lady told me it’s MY deer and they take each one case, by case.

I’m doing mostly fresh sausage, ground, and burritos

In the sausage I’ll probably do mostly hot and breakfast.

Sad that Preston passed away. His daughter passed few years prior which was very sad. Felt so bad for Preston and his family.

How much do places charge to process a deer? Obviously more sausage options raise the price.
Assume 2 kinds of sausage and roasts with one back leg.

I agree 100% with MagicMan. I must know you, we talk the same language.

Another suggestion: Dwight's in Raymond MS is exceptional on sausage, especially flavored. A really good alternative in that area is Van's.

I hope so bc It would be way more convenient to go there instead of Houma, Carriere, and Covington.

When they had the old place on gause they would leave the coolers outside all day. I don’t like that personally and prefer them to take my meat inside like the other places I’ve mentioned. Also, they used to outsource the tamales. I met the tamale maker and they said when armonds delivers meat to them it’s ice chests full of mixed deer meat. Meaning it’s not your meat you are getting back. I hope that’s changed as well.

They still leave the chests outside in the back. But they drain and add ice every day. Doesn’t take them long to get to your deer.

They told me the sausage stuff is my deer. But the ground, tamales, burritos is a combo because they do a lot at a time. I dunno we will see.

People drive from all over the 'Sip for Dwight's sausage. Van's may have changed, but the last deer i had processed there I did not get my deer back.

It's been several years, but the Outfitter in Richland did a good job of keeping deer separate.

Me and my family and friends normally use Fotenberrys . Me and my buddy decided to use Armond’s because it was closer to home once and decide it wasn’t worth it in the long run . Not as good and overpriced at the time two years ago .

We bought a grinder off amazon for about $65. Works great.

Bought a brisket at Rouses for $50

Made 28 lbs of ground meat
74% deer, 26% brisket.

It was easy . Got the black/white game tubes at academy & electric zip ties. Used my ac freon scale.

I am getting tired of pork pork pork, turing rancid & stinking. Next year i will do sausage and learn to smoke.
