Several weeks ago the NBA said they had seen enough vaccinated people getting it that they felt booster shots were necessary.

Fair enough. I’d say more of the thing that isn’t working probably isn’t the answer but I’m not in charge of a sports league or a doctor. I defer to them and the decisions they make as a fan

that seems obvious…maybe try some horse dewormer or bleach?

Vaccines work, period. When hospitals filled up during the last wave, the overwhelming majority of people that filled the ER were unvaccinated. The overwhelming majority that died were unvaccinated. The reason the NBA turns up positive despite high vaccination rates is simple: everyone is getting tested.

As a vaccinated person I may have caught Covid in the last 6 months and simply not known it because I was asymptomatic, but I have no mechanism in my life forcing me to be tested multiple times a week. And I’m not a million dollar athlete in a sport with huge liability implications if people were just allowed to run around as super spreaders when almost every team in the league is critically dependent on public financing to subsidize their business models or risk getting shut them down out of concern for public safety
