After reading enough words here and watching a videos, I have succumbed to FOMO on crypto, so based on the advice in another thread I have opened a Coinbase account.

I've made several buys, but wonder why (and if) the app doesn't have the functionalities of limit buys?

And today I was trying to make a buy and noticed that price on the Buy was about $20 higher than the price on their own ticker.

So they're getting their fee and an extra $20 premium on the difference?

I have no doubt that TDA and Fidelity do these, but we're talking pennies per share rather than dollars.

They sit on your assets for what seems like an eternity before you can send.

You can move your coinbase funds to coinbase pro without penalty as well. You also get your limit orders, stop orders, etc. No real need for coinbase classic.

Only Advantage I can see of classic (not pro) is seeing charts ofyour previous buys and sells and your balance over time easily. Can you see that on Pro?

When I want to look at historical charts and such, I look at coinbase. When I want to check the price of things during the day, I use coinbase; the watch list functionality on coinbase is much better. Coinbase is lightyears more refined than coinbase pro.

Everything else I do on coinbase pro. The platform is kind of clunky; but the ordering process is much more controlled and the fees are tiny compared to coinbase.

I dont really understand why they have such a disjointed setup; but it is what it is. Do all your trading on coinbase pro. Transferring money between the 2 platforms is very easy and free.

they really need to stop with the charade and just merge the two apps. The difference in fees is just, in my opinion, predatory on the newbs that don't know CB Pro exists and with every change to the aesthetic of Coinbase on the app it seems like it looks a little bit more like Pro.

Won't be long until you see candesticks on the normal app and the ability to set limit buys

One thing I liked about classic is that you can set up recurring buys. I haven't found that ability in Pro.

Ha. Last post was about Gustav I think. I lurked all the time. But I dove headfirst into crypto lately, and learned alot doing things all the wrong way. I would like to help anyone fooling with it from making the same mistakes.
As far as historical charts. Just use trading view. You can see all exchanges charts for what they offer. The bad thing about charts at the moment is, they dont matter. Until Bitcoin finds its footing, you are just poking in the dark. I expect another crash to 45k or so before I start fooling again with my positions that are not passive income.

Coinbase pro is made mostly for spot traders. Best thing for recurring buys is some sort of a bot. Im not a fan of them though. You can set up your limit trades infinitum, as long as you have the currency to do so.

Coinbase and coinbase pro are shite. They’re losing customers in droves. POS app is always glitchy and they are now known to have a pattern of network errors during every big run bc they don’t have the liquidity to allow all the people to sell and secure profits.

Many of us lost thousands a few weeks ago bc they removed the coin we had been trading for several days and kept us locked out of our accts for 12 fckg days!
