I’m hearing he’s about to have shoulder surgery and will be out 6-9 months. If true, he probably figured no way he would start next year.

This decision makes no sense to me really, unless he really hates it here.
The guy was a heavy favorite to be a starter at a huge school in LSU.

If it was before ESD so he and his brother can go to the next school, yes.
