The area is severely under-scouted and underdeveloped. More the latter. There's a reason NDSU, SDSU recently, Northern Iowa, etc. are consistently good and scare FBS teams. There are an abundance of linemen in that part of the world. They just have to import their fast dudes.

Scouting in WI has picked up so now UW is actually having some battles for highly rated O lineman with teams like OSU and ND.

Generally O lineman, some D line and linebackers are able to be recruited at home. Some RB's as well with Allen and Melvin being from WI.

Speed guys generally have to come from out of state and the highly ranked ones are hard to pull versus big name schools. UW has been recruiting nationally for some time with players from FL, CA, etc. It's just hard pulling the 4 stars.

Those skill positions ain't kids from the Dakotas.
