Will the future be spending less on coaches and having more in an “NIL account”

I believe so
Yes, I know the school can’t directly pay the player. You do like Bama and Ohio State are doing with a middle man that technically isn’t a booster.

NIL will be controlled and capped in the coming years.
The Wild West aespect of it won’t continue

National brands like Texas, USC, Notre Dame and Ohio State are going to benefit the most from NIL.

I wonder if/how LSU can get some guys like these on our “under the table” pay roll. Quite honestly, if I were LSU, I’d prob try to monetarily incentivize companies within the state to create new, constant, and high paying NIL deals. It’s a matter of time before this occurs anyway, might as well be ahead of the curve. Would be a great recruiting and retention tool. Everybody wants to brag about Huey P, especially in the same breath as LSU so might as well do what the Kingfish would have.
Literally just posted this. Got to jump while the iron is hot, if there aren’t clearly defined rules or an entity to regulate them then play outside the box as much as possible until the NCAA tightens their grips. You know others will, might as well go along for the ride.
Btw…the state of Louisiana, not only LSU, has a long history of working within the confines of what is now considered NIL going back to the late 60’s. And we were the best at it.

What’s a coaches salary got to do with a NIL deal?

At the end of the day teams still have to win. An LSU team that is 6-6 for 5 years isn't going to get the national money that a consistent winner in the Big 10 or PAC 12. Those winning teams have play at the best time, have the best TV slots, get the most national press. 6-6 teams go to bowl games that they play before Christmas. If anything, this is going to drive up the price for winning coaches.

The more I think about it the NIL may actually end the NCAA as we know it.. the big schools will have to raise prices on tickets to pay coaches and price more fans out of the stadium, then the players will be fighting each other for NIL deals causing dissension ....the small schools will have no coaching money or NIL money to entice players.. I could see some of them breaking off and creating their "own association" where all players are given a stipend of the same amount, but even then the good players would just leave for an NIL deal after a year or two.... It is going to be a long term mess

Texas is pretty much there now.

Shuley announced Wednesday a new partnership called the Clark Field Collective to help facilitate NIL opportunities with Texas athletes. Shuley said prominent donors, Austin business leaders and Texas exes like Kenny Vaccaro, T.J. Ford and Juliann Johnson will help oversee what’s starting out as a $10-million commitment. The goal is simple: to have the largest fund in the country dedicated to NIL activities for Texas athletes.
