Wonder who the red caped bandit will be endorsing at the Caucus?

DES MOINES, Iowa — If you are visiting the Iowa Statehouse over the next couple of weeks, you might see a holiday display set up by the Satanic Temple. It features a ram's head covered with mirrors on a mannequin cloaked in red clothing.

Lucien Greaves, co-founder of the Satanic Temple, says this satanic display is a symbol of their right to religious freedom. "We're going to really relish the opportunity to be represented in a public forum. We don't have a church on every street corner," Greaves said.

Greaves says if you don't like it, don't look at it.

"My feeling is if people don't like our display in public forums, they don't have to engage with them. They don't have to view them," Greaves said.

Shellie Flockhart from Dallas Center says she was shocked to see at the capitol. "It's a very dark, evil force, and I truly hope people know how to battle that," Flockhart said.

Flockhart organized a prayer group on Wednesday around the Christmas tree in the center of the rotunda to oppose the satanic display near the stairwell. She calls it dark and evil and says Christians should spiritually fight against it.

"I hope that people realize spiritual warfare is real. That there are evil satanic forces that are trying to infiltrate our state," she said.

The Satanic Temple says the display will be up for 14 days.

The Satanic Temple says it is a federally recognized non-theistic group, that uses satanic symbols as a way to convey its message. Their website says the group does not worship Satan or believe in the existence of Satan.

It's Sunday. If you're worried about it and interested, there are a lot of churches in the Iowa State Capitol and elsewhere across the country as well.

I’m always split on their bullshite. At the root, they are always a small handful of sad unfrickables who gather together in an awkward losers club. Their only purpose is to be trolls.

They aren’t espousing religious views but only trying to provoke those who are not atheists. They’re harmless losers but annoying as shite and have figured out how to work the system

These idiots aren’t worth the anger they are trying to evoke. Mockery and laughter is what they are used to in life and fitting

It sounds like it shouldn’t have been allowed in the first place.

Not all religions (or "religions") have to believe in Satan. In fact, the vast majority of them, don't.

They don’t claim a deity.

What’s next?

Will the “religion” of climate catastrophism be included?

From the start Anton LeVay’s Church of Satan was atheistic. It really was just atheism wrapped in a performance art of money and attention. At the root, their beliefs are fairly benign mixed with a vague belief in magic. They always look like the photo I posted. Losers looking for a group to fit in with

Oh, well if Satan and his followers say “trust me bro”, there’s no Satan and we don’t worship him, it must be true. It’s not like Satan would have problem lying, would he? It’s not like there isn’t currently the practice of child sacrifice by the millions in search of comfort and prosperity being held to be the most sacred of sacraments by the democrats in this country.

The greatest trick the devil ever played was convincing the world that he did not exist.

There are about half a billion Buddhists in the world and they don't claim a deity, either. Still a religion.

You really think those idiots believe in anything deeper than trolling Christians? The more you bite on the hook, the more attention they get. It’s a dozen apartment dwellers who know how to press buttons and elevate their sad lives into media attention. Laugh at them and move on.

Doesn't anyone find it curious that statues of war heroes and our Republic's founders are pulled down in the name of our new social justice religion, and statues of fentanyl addicts who point guns at pregnant women, large hair picks, and Old Scratch are now being erected in our civic buildings?

I think the attitude and positions they push are exactly what I expect the godless to portray. I also think a spirit of wickedness is driving them. Regardless, they're building statues and temples and pushing their way into schools. Pretending they don't exist won't make them go away, but if people were really concerned, they'd be in church this morning. Clearly we're not as worried about satanists as the click-bait indicates.

You could claim that it never was one.

Much like Confucianism, it is simply an ideology.

However, there are “Gods” in Buddhism, just not in the Greek, Roman, or Abrahamic sense.

The people who'd probably find this supernaturally disturbing are probably in church as I type this.

I'm as worried about the satanists as I am about the other mobs hired by the left to stage their protests and get away with mayhem and destruction. Probably the same people and on the same payroll.

agreed, and that spirit is at the root of what's wrong with our fair republic.

Exactly. If it's a political position, then most people don't need to worry about it. The hand-wringing from people who don't believe in God and won't go to church is goofy. If you're concerned, go to church. Preach Christ and the gospel. Study your Bible and teach others.
