The State already runs lean and mean with no state income tax, a relatively small budget that runs a healthy surplus, almost paid off their debt completely, and is rated first in many categories including education. Oh, and he's also setting aside over $400 million for Property Insurance relief.

The solution? Yeah, let's go ahead and do even better and trim the bureaucracy down further and make it even more efficient. Tell me again about how he is distracted running for President, I would trade in Abbott for 1/100th of DeSantis. Dude is a freaking badass.

He won't beat Trump in the primary unless he dies of natural causes first. That to say, Trump isn't going win in 2024.

He should do the cuts like Pataki did in NY a while back. NY was intractable and the public unions very powerful, but he just froze hiring and let attrition do the rest. When employee shortages in critical areas came up, personnel from non-critical (BS) areas were transferred.

A lot of cuts in the bloated beast were cut with no muss, fuss or backlash.

Fun fact. Florida has a $114 Billion budget compared to NY at $229 Billion. So NY spends literally twice as much to deliver poorer results with a smaller population. Yet NY is still trying to grow and spend and borrow more, Florida is trying to get even more efficient.

DeSantis also broke the Teacher's Unions in Florida already, they are scrambling to even stay certified now with declining membership. One by one they are losing because of the reforms DeSantis has enacted and the thing that really crushes them is Florida keeps raising teacher pay.

He's just a master at playing the game and crushing the Left.

Stop telling us what DeSantis is doing. No one cares what he is actually does. He's not even entertaining! What good is competent government if you're bored. I like my leadership WWE style.

Just making sure the Trump supporters here know exactly what they are voting against. They could have this guy running things if they want. Or not.

We get what we deserve.

Good for Florida. They’re fortunate to have as much tourism as they do, too. Definitely helps their budget.

This doesn’t appeal to MAGA, they want more stimulus checks not smaller government.

Read a study a while back that looked at state legislatures. Citizens were much happier with part time legislatures who only sat for a couple of weeks a year. That means that they had real jobs in the real economy. Taxes were lower, satisfaction with state government was higher and trust was solid.

States with fulltime legislatures and well paid politicians had the least satisfied citizens, highest taxes and lowest trust. Fulltime politicians find it very easy spend other people's money while they grow bloat in government.

Really.

A thread with many more upvotes, many of them being Trump supporters who like what Desantis is doing, and one of the first replies is to bash Trump supporters.

This fricking board is a clown show.

Wake me up when this "Team Orange Cult vs. Team Ronbots" bullshite is dead and buried please. 90+% of respondents have openly professed that they're going to vote for whoever becomes the nominee, be it Desantis or Trump, so this bickering is counterproductive.

And now that the prog filth retook control of the Wisconsin SC, thanks Trump, they are going to war to put the teacher's union BACK in control of our schools after Walker broke them ten years ago.
