Baseball recruiting tips ?

Guys I have a nephew who is 12 It's pretty obvious to see he's better than most the kids he plays with in his travel league and his city league. I think he's gonna at least be a D1 baseball prospect he's got good size already nearly 5'10. He honestly reminds me of Clay Harris with how pretty and natural his swing is. What does his dad or coaches need to do to get him noticed by the good baseball programs. The kid is a huge LSU baseball fan. Any tips or helpful advice is appreciated and even the unhelpful advice is appreciated lol.

Take him to camps and keep playing travel ball. Look for a team too that has a decent chance at LLWS

Camps are the best way honestly but no 12 year old has ever gotten a 2nd look from a D1 coach. When he gets into high school and if he's still head and shoulders better than everyone else he will get noticed. He could be just hitting puberty earlier than everyone else and kids will catch up to him eventually. That happens all the time in youth baseball.

This: I was throwing 76-78 at 12-13 years old and dominate. I was 82-84 as a senior in HS. Didn't grow much after 13-14, just filled out a little. Could have played JUCO, but decided to focus on school since I was obviously not going any further with it.

Not true at all. Nephew was 12 when he first talked with LSU coaches during LSU camp. Standouts at individual camps get more looks than you think.

Your nephew went to the camp and stood out for a 12yr old. They didn't waste their time following him when it was over.

Agree with most of that but thinking back about 5 years ago when my son was playing 12 year old ball, the 2 most dominant kids in the state were:
Austin Perrin- now pitching very well at Hahnville and commited to ULL
Nick Webre- committed to LSU
So yes, puberty does oftenchange things but these 2 studs stayed studs. And I am also talking about the 2 best in the state at the time, not some city league.

Jacob Pearson won the HR Derby at World Series at that age. Committed to LSU. It was obvious how good he was at 8.

give it time. Let him get to high school. If he is good he will get noticed.

At 12 just let him enjoy baseball. All the recruiting will come it's a stressful process and like others said if he's that good he will get noticed.

Right he's playing on a travel team that often takes trips to Hammond and Lafayette. He just took tournament MVP in Hammond.

Focus on having him play elite competition for now. That will allow him to make a quicker transition to high school ball and give him more exposure.

Yes but south Mississippi is notorious for its coaches not getting kids exposure. I had to find out about football recruiting myself. Me and my dad did all of our stuff for football. Just didn't know how it worked with baseball.

Do you know what time of the year camp season is for baseball?

What part of South MS ? There are some really good travel organizations around, not your weekend daddy ball organizations.
Most start playing showcase tournaments and PG tournaments around 14u-15u. Just search the LSU site for the summer camp. The USM camp in Hattiesburg is also a good one and they do a good job recruiting the Hattiesburg and coast area.

Travel ball isn't going to get him anything aside from being noticed by his high school coaches his freshman year, and unless he's playing at a major high school like Barbe or Catholic then he'll probably get virtually no attention there and end up at Southeastern or something if he's a stud.
If he wants to play for a big college then he needs to start going to Under Armour camps ASAP and hope that he gets invited to their all America showcase and he needs to play for a system of teams like Marucci Elite (not sure if they even exist anymore, they used to be run by Chad Raley) that go and play in Perfect Game wood bat tournaments where he can get noticed then follow up by going to their camps and hope that they rate him a 9.5 or 10. Big colleges notice the guys who are rated highly by those two showcases even if they don't play for a good high school team
Basically his options to make it to LSU are:
1. Get on a great travel ball team now and be a stud at a big high school by about 10th grade.
2. Play mediocre level ball now and develop slowly and be great by the time he's 11th or 12th grade, go to JUCO, then dominate at whatever JUCO he's at.
3. Be rated an Under Armour all American by going to their showcases like 3 times a year.
4. Be rated a 9.5 or 10 by Perfect Game and stand out in their summer wood bat leagues which certain LA teams go to.
And none of those things are particularly easy or worth your time and substantial amount of money even if he does make it to a good program based off of my experience, but good luck regardless.

Nothing. He's 12. If he's still balling out in high school then you worry about it. Constant camps on top of play travel ball will just wear him out. Let the kid be a kid. If he wants to pursue it in high school, then you let him make the choice to camp and play.
Even if he doesn't camp, if he's good enough, they'll find him.

Summer baseball camps are the ticket.
