Teammate of Tyron johnson, i hope this doesn't affect him

Kids realize they need to make the decision that is in their best interest...not their friends.

Wow. Interesting angle by ATM. Capers Smith is a good player himself though. Definitely not a QB at the SEC level, but he can play somewhere.

Tyron Johnson no-showed A&Ms Junior day..for the 2nd time in a row

doesn't he play CB as well as QB?

He doesn't have a true position IMO
I'm sure he's being looked at as a CB though

I think DB (likely CB or Nickel back) is where he projects.

yeah, we recruited him as a corner, not a QB

I hate that schools are doing this to us left and right now.

you hate that schools are recruiting players we didn't offer?

Doing what?

Dang! Kid has a seriously high ceiling as a DB. Much better than Ellis, really wanted him.

It's football man. We do this to Texas too.

With an underlying purpose beyond that, yes.

The kid is a better player than to just be a strap on for johnson. And there is no evidence that a package deal is even on the table.

Yeah no kidding
I didn't want to believe it last year, but the "package deal" myth between teammates isn't that common.
How many St Aug players with similar offers went to different schools last year?
How many Edna Karr players with similar offers went to different schools last year?
McGinnis and Capers Smith will probably end up at A&M because that's their best offer on the table, but it doesn't mean Johnson is.

If Dillon commits to A&M, I'll be bitching and moaning right there with you Thunderbird..but not for this.
We have Tarvarus McFadden and many other DBs on our radar, along with the #1 CB in the country already committed.

The underlying purpose being what, to get another highly rated player? It's not illegal or underhanded. If the school wants them that bad then it's all fair game. Kids often want to play with their friends/family so it's a valid strategy. Let's not act like we didn't offer Lanard Fournette to gain favor with Leonard. Of course that's not to say than Lanard isn't a Division I-A caliber athlete, but his status was buoyed by his brother.
Maybe A&M just liked Deshawn independent of his HS teammate. No one here knows for sure. LSU has too many great DBs currently on roster and on deck to really worry with this kid.
