His older sister is named Valerie. I wonder if it's some sort of inside joke with her.

Most of his characters names end in a y or ie sound too.

Billy, Danny, Lenny, Happy, Bobby, Nicky, Tommy, Henry, Barry, Sonny, Robby, Schecky and so on I suppose.

I like detail like this.
