Speaking of accents, how does all of Canada have a singularly recognizable one?

While, I'm sure there are distinguishing regional differences, how is it that I've met people from Vancouver to Toronto (places basically the whole continent apart) and I was able to instantly tell nothing but that each had a "Canadian" accent that was completely distinguishable from anyone in the US. How is that so? You'd think that Toronto would be closer to maybe upstate New York sounding and Vancouver would sound like people from the US Northwest, but that's not the case at all. Anyone?

They sound like a bunch of fricking nerds

Same way if you went to France or Germany they'd all sound the same to you.

Yeah, that's a whole different issue. I'm speaking just of the English speakers. Sorry if that wasn't implicitly clear (although, I don't know how it wasn't).

Yeah, they're speaking French and German.

They don't. Newfoundland has its own strong accent.

The same thing happens in America, or any other country. Dipshit.

Isn't nova scotia where da cajuns came from?

They have to live in igloos and can't get out much so they get their accent from tv.

I've worked with a lot of Canadians and its funny to interact with them. They want to be a British territory so badly (except Quebec)

What the hell?
At least Slow understood what I was getting at.

Eh, don't worry about it. That guy is an angry SOB all the time.

I lived in Calgary, AB for 2 years. They all have different accents from Province to Province. They just say the same word..."eh?" after every sentence. And I never heard anyone say "aboot."
They are also raging alcoholics and pot smokers.

That's literally all I hear when a Canadian is speaking. The pronunciation of that word and others like it is undoubtedly a huge part of the Canadian accent.
