Just checking to see if anyone can help me out. My father grew up with Crowe Peele in NC but has lost touch with him over the years. Crowe was one tough boxer for LSU back in the 1950's. I have been unable to find ay contact info for him. My father will soon turn 89 and I would love to be able to reconnect them. Does anyone know any contact info for him? I have heard many stories from my dad over the years. They were very close at one time. Most of my fathers friends have now passed and I thought it would be great for them to speak. Thanks for any help you can provide.

I have no idea what happened to him. His son Jason moved to the Dallas area- maybe Frisco. You might try calling him.

You can find his son Jason on Facebook. Let me know if you can’t find his page.

Last time I saw Mr.Peele was over 15 years ago when he had his Texaco gas station on Jefferson and Floynell.

I have heard stories from my father for years about Crowe and his brothers. His brother was the 82nd Airborne boxing champ. I believe his name was Bruce. I would love to hook them up again. Time is growing short.

Crowe has passed away...he had an Esso station across from Westdale Jr High when I was growing up.

I thought this thread was about underwear.

Crowe Peele was a wonderful guy. You could tell by looking at him that he had been a tough boxer but he was the kindest guy you’d ever want to meet. For many years he helped countless students with all sorts of car problems at his station off Highland.

Nancy Peele is his daughter...you can look her up on FB...She’d be able to get them in touch with each other

That was the last place I had seen him too.

He used to work out at Foxys like as recent as a decade ago. He’d have the medicine ball out, tossing it around.

ESPN Article
Grew up in Jefferson Terrace. Got my oil changed many times at his Texaco station. Great guy. Thought he had passed away, but I can’t find anything to confirm that.
I did find this interesting article though from this past January. A good read.

I also recall hearing that he passed.
I was at LSU in 1980 - 84. ATM's developed while I was there. Prior to that, getting cash was an issue if you didn't have an account with a BR bank. Crowe would cash checks for LSU students. I remember meeting him in his service bay, he looked me over, and cashed my check. I guess he had a natural sense for who he could trust. And I was told if you bounced a check, he had a memory like an elephant. He was a good guy and a cornerstone of the LSU community back then.
On a side note, when you were broke on a Sunday after a Saturday night of drinking, you'd go to Round the Corner (current location of The Varsity) or Picadilly, who both took checks.
