“He begins to catch the ball and he gets hit before he has it tucked away,” Shaw said. “By rule, this is incomplete. He needs to tuck the ball away or make an act common to the game. A football catch. He does not complete the catch.”

So......if you grab the ball with your hands and hold it out if front of you for five yards, get hit and fumble it is an incomplete pass??? He made a catch. It doesn't need to be tucked away.

We did not get screwed by the refs. There were about 6 50/50 calls that all went against us. It sucks but that’s football.

If the goal line would have been at the point of when he had the ball in his hands would it have been a touchdown? u dam right it would have... they dont have to “tuck it”! thats a cop out BS line!! They just have to have ball firmly in there hands..That was a fumble and they know it..

Put the goal line btwn when the ball was in his hands and when the ball got knocked out of his hands and its a touchdown.. prove me wrong..

It was a catch. But it was a close call. We did not get ANY close calls. End of story.

It would have been the right call no matter how they would have called it on field, that's how the SEC operates

My only argument to Shaw is this:

If they can say Kellen Mond had possession of the ball when he instantly touched it with one hand with his knee on the ground; then you have to be consistent and say that Sternberger had possession with both hands on the ball and turning up field.

He didn't take two steps with possession of the ball. Hate to break it to yall, but it wasn't a catch. It sucks, but it is what it is.

I guess running several steps isn't "an act common to the game"

This reads as “blah, blah, blah.” Let’s CYA and make up a BS explanation to cover our poor officiating.

Those aren't equal scenarios and aren't governed by the same set of rules.

Not really.....there is no requirement of a ball being tucked away for it to be ruled a catch.

If you have caught the ball and there is no bobble, im constantly amazed how a human can say it's not a catch after the next step.

He most certainly did.

He most certainly did not. His foot comes down as the ball gets to his hand, he then takes one step and is hit and the ball comes out.

Take the purple and gold glasses off.
