Congrats and hats off to Will Wade and the fighting tigers. So ready for next year to actually see what he can do with his recruiting class. I know the regular season is over but let’s try to win the NIT.

I will wade for my man, CWW! Although I don't think the date on that picture is correct lol. Anyone know when that picture was taken?

Let us hope next year's team gets better as the season progresses. I did not see that this year at all. Which was a disappointment. Some players got better, but not the team.
Also, WW must fix his road game routine to get the team ready to play. We are very very very bad on the road. Got to try to at least split these.
We lost 7 SEC games on the road, and won 2. One win against TAMU was a miracle. The Arky road win was fantastic. No consistency this year and team did not improve by the end of the season. The line ups and substitutions were are all over the place as well.
Big fan of WW and LSU, just some observations.

I think a lot of the inconsistencies were because the players themselves were inconsistent. Individually they all went through stretches where they checked out mentally for long periods of time. Hard to make a lineup when you don’t know when those stretches will come.

The guy squeezed a lot of blood from a stone this year. I'm very excited about our potential. The only thing in our way is the administration running him off

The idea we almost won last nites game with Reath and Epps, our 2 bigs, being completely neutralised is impressive. Our bigs next year will never ever be neutralised

That's a very real concern. This man needs the Saban/Skip treatment. Do whatever he says and trust it. Don't pinch pennies, don't bicker, pay the man the money and give him what he needs. I have zero faith in our administration to do that. We act like a mid major or a 1980s athletic department sometimes with how we come to decisions. LSU has the resources to be second to none.

While I think your point is valid I think there are reasons for that and WW did about as well as he could in the circumstance.
I think the reason it was very difficult to play consistently well with the collection of players he had, or to improve as a team is because our two big guys were such liabilities on the defensive end and as rebounders. We could do things to try to hide it, not play them both at the same time, sit them both and play small...all things we did. But it was smoke an mirrors and teams adjust and because of those limitations we just don't have as many answers to adjust back with.

Good post. This team just has too many limitations to be more than it was. Making the NIT is a great feat for this group.

I generally agree with you, but it still doesn't explain huge difference in home and away play. I know there is a big advantage in Basketball re: Home Court. But man we look like a completely different team on the road. Any thoughts on this?

We have a guy already on campus that's going to be a big help defensively
FYI, in the 7 games Kavell played 15 or more minutes for Oregon he averaged 6 rbs, and 2 blks in 20 minutes on average. It's yet to be seen how much PT he will get, but he will provide better defense at the rim than we had at any point this season.

I think home court has a bigger effect than you might imagine.
Home court has the advantages of pumping the players up and helping focus the players.Even though LSU fans aren’t that good at this at home, and should do MUCH better.
But it is a HUGE disadvantage to play away. I’ve been on 4 SEC away games this season, and have done so for the past 5 or so years. I also went to Memphis. EVERYTIME the away venue has been a very hostile environment. Really loud, big crowds with a huge physical presence. In most other arenas the seating is closer to the action. I was at the Auburn game and those fans were incredible. You couldn’t hear the PA announcer most of the time, the crowd noise was perpetual regardless of the on court action. They even have a “standing room only” section. Extremely intimidating, especially for our freshmen, although I have to say that Tremont seems immune to it. Heck it was intimidating for us LSU fans that were there!
I’ve noticed that, on the road, some of our players might make a mistake, miss a free throw or something, then hear it from the crowd and just not recover composure after that. Pressure from the crowd affects them.
It’s not the only reason for poorer play, but a bigger factor than people may expect.

It was peculiar because we won or first two road games and Arkansas was without question our best game of the year.
The Auburn game was just a firestorm, games like that happen. Tennessee and Bama we were right in both of those in the second have and a quick run hit us in both and maybe that's easier to withstand at home than on the road?

All teams have a more difficult time on the road. More so in basketball than other sports. WILL wade maximized the potential of this team IMO. He turned a "bad" team and made them above average. That's a great coaching job. Roster was justtoo limited to compete with the big boys, especially on the road.
