I've said the same for a week or so since it hit. I'm all for adding, changing video snippets...but having Dan read his own poem just does not work in comparison to how fantastic the original voice over actor did the first one. Love Borne, but this is really badly produced.
Like most things non game related, it's only a tiny thing...but that video being played right at the last moment before kick off had really become something special...sad to see it diminished for no solid reason.

I agree. I love Dan's voice over the loudspeaker during the game, and I really appreciate him for writing this poem. For this one moment though, that other actor's voice was a little more powerful.
Maybe they should hire Sam Elliot to read it.

There are a ton of voice over actors that could kill that...that could add the weight it needs. Dan simply does not have the gravitas in his voice to pull off his own words. Hell...most people don't. I do some voice over stuff and have a pretty deep voice...I tried recording it when this new one came. I can't pull it off either. Saying Dan shouldn't do this is no shot at him...it's a compliment to the guy who did the first one and those that could do it better.
We're always talking about how we want the best things... Truth is, that really does start with the small things, like this. This CAN be done infinitely better with not much more cost AND little effort. Maybe the blame lies at the feet of the SID and the gaggle of assistants he has...who knows. But this is mediocre at best, and it needn't be.

i prefer the original for sure. but I can watch it anytime I want so I dont see the big deal. the crowd and the team feed off the opponent, not a 2 minute video

Dunno. The length was perfect, and the score was great. They could have changed the video out easily and had it match what they already had for both voice over and score... If they had wanted to make it longer, they could have changed the score and simply added more space between the voice over sections...
This feels like they simply wanted it to be Dan...

the original voice is 100x better imo
