Why did Tennessee get a better bowl draw than LSU?

4-loss #21 Tennessee gets 3-loss #17 Iowa. Meanwhile, 3-loss #13 LSU gets 5-loss unranked Wisconsin?
That just doesn't make any fricking sense.
siap
ETA:
frick ME. I didn't mean bowl, I meant opponent.
Why can't LSU get rankled opponents in a bowl game? Purdue, Wisconsin, really? WTF?

What bowl did we play in last year?

Either does thinking Iowa is a better draw

Because LSU went to the Cheez-It Bowl in January and didn't sell many tickets.

I think we chose Tampa over Orlando

Ranked with fewer losses, and a win over Wisconsin doesn't make Iowa a better draw than Wisconsin?

After the NY6 it's all about matchups, prospective ticket sales, and who's been where more recently. There is no rule about where you placed in the SEC going to specific bowls anymore. It would have been our third time in Orlando in 12 months. That's why we didn't go to the Citrus Bowl

LSU was placed in Tampa because LSU played in Orlando for last year’s Citrus and this year’s opener. Bowls are about tickets sold and tourism, too. Selling LSU fans on a third football trip to Orlando in 365 days is tough.
Tampa gives you a Saints/LSU doubleheader on back-to-back days, if you’re inclined, though the Saints aren’t worth watching right now.

Iowa's record this year was a statistical anomaly. They also beat Wisconsin while Wisconsin's starting QB was hurt

That would be our 3rd game in Orlando in a year.

I'm talking about the team. I guess the 63-0 drubbing of an unranked B1G team last year wasn't enough.
Don't get me wrong, I generally like Wisconsin better than Iowa, but not this year.
What's up with LSU not getting ranked bowl opponents?

I would rather cut my entire yard with a pair of scissors than watch boring arse Iowa play anybody. I am thrilled LSU isn’t playing Iowa. Wisconsin is still a stale matchup but Iowa would have been the most BORING matchup.

Only other options are
Gator Bowl vs #22 Clemson
Texas Bowl vs #20 Ok State
Not sure we were offered a spot in either & NYD bowl is much better.

Apparently, it's not. Tennessee, who finished worse than LSU, gets a better matchup than LSU. Why?
Couldn't they have put Iowa in the ReliaQuest, and Wisky in the Citrus?

Not if they put Iowa in the Reliaquest.

No cause iowa was in the big 10 championship game. Citrus picks them up if they aren’t in the NY6

It would be one thing if their records were close, but you're telling me the 5-loss unranked team is better than the 3-loss ranked team?
I don't buy it.

I like the bowl, just not the opponent.
All the ranked teams around LSU seem to be playing each other while LSU has to get some 5-loss unranked team. It just smells like bullshite to me.

This isn’t the 70s and 80s where you got a bid and got to choose. The SEC office determines which teams go to which bowls (once the NY6 is seated). We were never going back to Orlando for our 3rd time in a year. You could make an argument for the Texas bowl since it’s close and a decent opponent, but I’m guessing they believe that A&M would have more people go to a game in Houston that wouldn’t go to a game in Tampa.

Well they have no control over that.
They’re not gonna go to a lower bowl just for a ranked matchup. Pretty simple, LSU didn’t want to take another trip to Orlando
