If Jayden wins the Heisman, should LSU retire his number?

I understand retiring No.9 because it was a 60+ year gap and championship. I just don’t want it to get silly and there are 4-5 single digit or teen numbers retired. Would be a good problem to have.

I say no only because he didn’t win a championship but he will go on the wall in the QB Room and be remembered forever. I wouldn’t mind a statue though.

No. But I’d be fine with a statue for Heisman winners

Would not even consider it until #9 is officially retired.

But if it does get retired, I have no problem with it

No numbers should be retired.

I'm torn on this based on historical prescendent at LSU. The following numbers have been retired:
20- Billy Cannon, National Championship and Heisman winner (no brainer to retire his number)
37- Tommy Casanova, no national championship, multi-year all american, college football hall of fame, etc.
21- Jerry Stoval, no national championship, runner-up for Heisnan, only player in LSU history to be named a unanimous All-American (1962), be selected to the college football hall of fame (2010), be selected as a first round pick (1963), and to be selected to the pro bowl (1966, 1967, and 1969).
I think that those who say JD didn't win a national championship so his number shouldn't be retired are probably the same ones saying that the Heisman is an individual award and not a team one and he should win it regardless of a team's overall record. Retiring a number is in the same vein as the Heisman in that it really is an individual honor and not necessarily a team honor.
Joe Burrow had an incredibly amazing season on the best team in college football history. If we had an average defense this year it could be said that this year's team would in competition with the 2019 team as the best ever. If Burrow had this year's defense would we still be saying he is one of the best to ever play at LSU? I say yes we would, but not as enthusiastically as we say it now since the 2019 team was able to accomplish what it did as a team.

No, but he should get a statue. If he won the NC, then maybe.

I’m of the mindset of honoring those Heisman winners with a statue and having their number hung in the stadium. Even then, that could become crowded. Glenn Dorsey and Kevin Faulk should have their names in the stadium.

I do believe that's not what he meant.

Florida trotted out their QB this year wearing #15. If that dude's jersey isn't retired, we aren't retiring Jayden's. Burrow's is sacred imo. What he did in 2019 was that special.

Matt House kept his number from being retired.

Statue, sure
Retired, probably not because no NC with it

Hell yeah. Not sure why we haven't already done this for Joe / Billy

Not to split hairs here, the LSU Athletics Hall of Fame calls numbers 20, 21, and 37 "retired" so I was just going by that even though 21 and 37 can still be worn.

Wrong again. It says their jerseys have been retired. Big difference
