The media was going on and on about how Bo Nix TDs in the first half last weekend and it got me thinking. His defense is good so they consistently gave him the ball to where he had 6 possessions in the first half. Fine. Jayden has 5 possessions and got 5 TDs. Digging deeper I noted that Oregon dominated Time of Possession with 16:55 to 13:05. LSU on the other hand scored 5 TDs while having the ball for just 10:05. This is of course because of our awful defense's inability to get off the field.

So in the first half Nix scored 2.48 points per minute and Daniels scored 3.47 points per minute. Has anyone seen a site that tracks stuff like this? I would love to see how he is doing in other games. This would also correct for the argument for Nix which says "he has less stats because he rarely plays in the second half"

Haven't seen anything like that but Ive heard several people mention that like 60-70% of Nix’s passes are within like 5 yards of the LOS & a large % of his yardage come from the WRs housing the short passes. This makes a lot of sense seeing as Bo Nix was EXACTLY that same type dink-n-dunk QB at Auburn.

Would love to see someone do the research to see if thats true or not.

Someone put this on Twitter:

“Nix has nation-leading 65% of his passing yards that have been after the catch.”

He just throws screens and flares to uncovered receivers behind the LOS…
Literally no one in the country is more dependent on YAC.

Yards per play (pass attempts + runs) adjusted for number of plays is one of the better ways to compare in my opinion.

Daniels has 427 plays for 4.592 yards

Nix has 402 plays for 3,667 yards.

Using his same yards per play average, Nix would have only 3,895 yards if he had 25 more plays to match Daniels' plays. That is a 697 yard difference or 15 percent fewer yards even when adjusted for number of plays.

Also, Daniels would have 4,323 yards if he had only 402 plays using his same yards per play average (656 more than Nix).

In other words, even when adjusted for number of plays, it is not close.

I don’t have the time of possession stats for the players, but Oregon averages 31:08 to 29:21 for LSU. Nix also has played longer in games than his backers claim. Overall he’s finished 35 quarters and been in the game at the end 5 of 11 games. Daniels has finished 37 quarters and played to the end in 6. Despite that, Nix has 101 possessions to 100 for Daniels excluding end of half drives less than 1 minute.
