Don’t forget our non-conference schedules are loaded in the next few years
2024 - USC (at Las Vegas), UCLA
2025 - @ Clemson
2026 - vs Clemson

Brian Kelly had ZERO to do with scheduling

Verge Ausberry says Hi.

Seems odd that just last week people were forgetting this. He's done a great job with our schedule. Who cares about week 0, when we have marquee matchups on opening season for the next few years!

The point about week zero is this:
Don’t play a team that can sneak a Hawaii-Derived week zero game in before they play you.
UCLA did it
FSU did it.
Va tech did it a while back too. 2002 ark state)
It was a mistake but dang, learn from it.
Fit it into the contracts that it’s the first game of the season for both teams.
Verge, There is 0% advantage by playing a team that had a week zero tune up. Additionally by moving their game up, FSU was allotted an extra week off during the season.
Their AD also advantageously scheduled some Thursday or Friday games in around that week off that were additionally helpful. That was smart by their AD.

I’m wondering if these games will actually be played with revised conference scheduling due to Texas and Oklahoma joining the SEC and the 12 team playoff.

No one knows for sure, especially with going to the 9 game conference schedule.

those games were on the schedule prior to Kelly.

No way we play both USC and UCLA

If you have good coaching and execution, you won’t need a week 0 ‘tune-up’.

Send Verge to Bama so they actually play a few good teams each year lol...

It’s okay not to play a tune up.
You just don’t want your power five getting a tune up before they play you.

He's certainly preparing, but it wasn't by scheduling these games. Those were scheduled well in advance of his arrival.

Of course it can give another team an advantage especially that early in the season.

And it happened two years in a row.

Weird that we're playing USC and UCLA in the same year. I feel like it's very rare for us to play a big 10 team and now we're playing 2 in one season.
