Another one given away by the defense...

2 chances to record the 3rd out in the 2nd inning. 4 runs allowed.

Such a piss poor way to lose.

That’s true, but their pitcher was outstanding. Looks like the rebels are the upswing!

I agree! Better clean it up quick!

Not very good at the plate

And to make matters worse, McManus knew the dirt ball was coming.

Wish Hunt was working with Blair. While Doug mentioned the 4 run 2nd, he gave McManus a pass.

That along with making their pitcher look better than he is. Piss poor at bats at the plate, especially Dugas. Dugas let the count go 0-2 in 3/4 at bats, if they are throwing the breaking ball for a strike you gotta frickin swing the bat.

Dude. At the game. The defense didn’t help. But the inning was over twice as well and the umps refused the call.
Runner was out at second on the single he stretched. Then a guy went on the 3rd strike. Home play ump refused to call it then first base wouldn’t overule. Again inning over.
Finally. The foul/fair call was MOT reviewable. The runner should have been sent home.
Plenty of blame to go around. The passed ball included but this wasn’t solely on the defense.

With their pitching staff, LSU is not beating many SEC teams with total of 3 hits like they had in this game.
Not getting the 3rd out in the 2nd and giving up 4 runs, they would have won this game 3-1. But that is baseball

Not to disagree with you, but their pitchers did hell of a job yesterday and today. It’s hard to win any SEC game with only 3 hits in total.

Or maybe the team only getting three hits against a starter who pitched 7 innings both days lost the game. They still had plenty of time after giving up 4 runs in the second inning yesterday.

Yea, we crushed it for three hits. How many did we get on base? Five or six? That one inning was bad, but we didn’t hit well either. Team loss.

The guy at 2nd was safe. The tag missed his torso and hit his leg. His hand was on the bag when tag hit his leg. We sit on the first base side and the batter didn't break the plate with his bat. The missed 3rd strike by mcmanus was the key to the inning.

Ok. Thanks. So the inning only should have been over on a strikeout. Appreciates it.
Seriously. . We only had 3 hits.
That’s not enough to win the game.
Every ump mistake benefitted ole miss to the tune of multiple runs in the game.
My point. This game really wasn’t on the defense.

2 outta 3 was the goal
They still have their goal available
Their defense is not going to mysteriously get better. Thompson, even when his instincts are good, gets a good jump on the ball on a hustle play, but his physical/mental limitations throwing the ball cost him/us a likely game winning play
A better defensive C likely blocks up strike 3, and you win that way too
But you people need to just sit back and accept that Crews with a limited Berry, Morgan, and Dugas will have to cross 8 lanes of traffic blindfolded to do what you want, make it to Omaha
