Missouri seems to be the most logical choice for 14th. Excellent academics and big TV markets.

Not dissing WVa, but it doesn't bring the same stuff.

Don't think that the SEC will go to 16.

I'd love to see:

aTm
MO
VT
FSU

barring a complete shocker like OU or Texas those are the teams that seem to make the most sense for the SEC

There's an outside chance Baylor gets confused and sues FSU and Va Tech if they do tho

Bolded part is incorrect. The others are debatable.

If we go to 14, WVU is a terrible choice. Okay athletics, bad academics, their state is poor and has a small population.

VT, FSU, Missouri, or Clemson would all be better (as would any of the ACC NC schools, though I think they will stick together).

ECU would truthfully be a better choice.

Debatable? We're #14 in the country in all-time wins. Ahead of teams like VT, A&M, Ark, Florida, Ole Miss, Mizzou. LSU is #12 and Auburn is #13 for the record

For basketball we are #21 in all-time wins and the NBA logo is from WVU. Mizzou is #35

As far as branding, we're #15 in merchandise sold. Mizzou is #19.

We also have the most watched Thursday night ESPN game in history. We have the highest rated game in ESPN2 history. Our bowls are always among the highest rated as well

And how do you determine academic ranking? WVU is a fine academic institution. A quick google search, one list put us at #139, right behind Bama at #137 and in front of Tennessee, LSU, Ole Miss, and Arkansas

To be fair those teams played in tougher conferences for a longer period of time. Played some serious national powers.lol. The Big 8, SWC, and SEC back in the day were no joke.

True but WVU was also very bad pre-WWII. So we made up a lot of ground really quick

so discount them down to 20th or so, still makes the op a dumbass.

eliminating wvu based on quality of football program is asinine.

I don't think anyone really knows. Likely a rumor to try to fire up the football team ("they said we weren't good enough to join... so let's show 'em...)

I don't buy the timing of the "rumor".

Kentucky, North Carolina, Mississippi, and Arkansas?

And does that mean you're saying WVU isn't Southeastern? Cause they're at $19.7 mil.

West Virginia is a weird state. It doesn't really fit in anywhere. I'm from Huntington and definitely consider myself a southerner. But Morgantown is definitely in the north and WVU is definitely a northern school. Although football tradition and support definitely feels more SEC than any other conference

those red numbers are the expenses...but the numbers are different in the USAToday database LINK

Either way: WVU makes more than Mizzou
