dont say that all ACC teams are out!!!

end sarcasm.

doc i have a question and please answer honestly.

do you believe that MATT Hayes, the long time sporting news college football writer, has better contacts in the SEC offices then you and I?

I ask because I linked an article earlier where he quotes somebody high in the SEC office as said " every option is on the table now" LINK
this was said in response to the acc expansion.

Now I agree that WVU is a good fit but the problem is the population of the state. Many people fail to understand this is a big deal. When the SEC creates a network similar to the B1G network they want atleast one team in states with big populations. The reason why is because they would get premium royalties per household that has the network for those states. If the network is offered on the basic cable package well then you can see why having teams in larger populous states is important. Its the reason the B1G is making so much money.

That is the same reason Texas A&M is such a great get and why FSU is not a good get at all.

Initially I wasn't too sure about the idea but StraightCashHomey convinced me. You've added a lot of good points.

Since the Big East is there for the taking, and since (right now) WVU is the nearest school to the SEC not already in an existing state, it would be a good add.

(And any enterprising SEC fans could go around and pick up all the old couches in their area, then sell them to visiting Mountaineer fans!)

Great! More training for future NFL stars, which is what the SEC produces in abundance!

I mean, why do we keep vandy around?

raises the GPA right?

well, WVU does the same, and is actually competitive

I doubt it's that much colder than Lexington, KY.

I don't see who else could be #14. They fit far better than anyone else when you consider everything.

Only question, IMO, is do we stop at 14?

IMO, no. I don't think the SEC does.

I think it goes to 16 team super conferences

I'm not complaining. I just thought it wasn't a remotely good school. I don't think of should matter when it comes to this.

I did. I'm talking more about acceptance requirements etc. If I'm wrong then no problem.

WVU just seems like a no brainer
Yes! It's been my first choice for #14, for a long time - waaay before the ACC upped their buyout. I think geographically and culturally, they are a perfect SEC fit. Their football and basketball programs are already in stride with many (if not most) SEC programs right now. Rivalries will develop very quickly - just watch LSU and WVU after this Saturday's game.

Only thing is, that reasoning would imply that Mizzou would be the only logical non-ACC buyout choice left for SEC expansion. What if we add WVU and its TV market (however paltry as you may think that is), then go back and grab Mizzou too, and some other school for #15 and 16? What I'm trying to say is it doesn't necessarily need to be "either/or" if you're willing to think beyond the limits of what seems to be "known" along these threads.

Being pro/anti-WVU coming here seems as futile and counter-productive as the pro/anti JL/JJ threads of the not-so-recent past were.

while west virginia only has around 1.8 million, they are supported by alums from all over the country, and surrounding states.

like pennsylvania, that has 12 million in it.
