The more I read Drunk's post, the more I realize how obsessed he is with A&M. Oklahoma and OSU can cut their ties with Texas and nothing...but A&M doing it is obsession with UT. Dude, get a frickin life. They're all doing it because it's best for the respective schools. If you think OU, OSU, A&M, Colorado or Nebraska are leaving because they want to undermine UT, then you are giving UT way too much frickin credit. They all want to get away from UT and stabilize themselves in a stable conference. Other than rivalries with the fans of those schools hoping UT loses every frickin game they play, they could care less what UT does once they are untied from them. Trust me, if TTech would get a call from the SEC, which would never happen btw, they'd tell UT to kiss their arse on the way out of the Big whatever the frick it is now. You just go right ahead and think that UT is the do no wrongers...you look like a frickin idiot...because everyone in this country knows what a pompous arse UT is. You sir, are an idiot.

I'm really interested in the whole conference expansion soap opera, and I get a kick out of the aggie hiccups along the way, but I don't think I have an unhealthy obsession with A&M. They did something great which Texas couldn't/wouldn't do.....aggie broke the Tech/Baylor bonds. This is an admirable thing. I just hope it ends with Texas in the Big 10.

It is all about $. It isn't to undermine Texas.

Look, as I've said many times, the ESPN $300 million deal is the cause of all of this. If I was a fan of another team, I would be freaked out. But we also know any other team that was offered would accept the same deal.

Texas is not some innocent bystander or victim. But, when I see bullshite spewed about Texas, I won't hesitate to call that out.

I had no idea drunk was an Aggie fan, but with all those responses I have to assume he is here disguised as a whorn.

But to answer OP in the famous words of an old history prof I had at A&M, "Not only no, but hell no".

We are sick of the self-righteous Bear puppets "saving" Texas rivalries (right TCU, SMU, Hous. Rice?) and their weaseling deceiving buddies in Austin. The have proven they are untrustworthy at best.

Looking forward to a few with our new conference mates.

Yeah, frick that--no way we're staying in this shithole of a conference with the likes of baylor.

Can't wait till this is a done deal and we can put this drama behind us and focus on football--the SEC teams will have a new team to beat the shite out of till we toughen up.

I welcome the challenge.

Ask yourselves this:

Would ANY of you want to continue in a conference with the likes of Baylor? (not to mention the longhorns, but just focus on the nerds in Waco).

That should answer your question

Whatever the motivation of our administration to pull the trigger is irrelevant at this point. I think most of us are just excited to be affiliated with the SEC and would like to leave everything else in the past.

revenue sharing system? I'm hoping they pull this league back together and make something of it.
It's pointless to ask because the Horns have made clear that they aren't modifying the LHN in any way, shape, or form.

The thing that I think most SEC folks who oppose this move don't realize is that it is the prospect of a conference-owned cable network that makes A&M so valuable to the SEC, and the Big XII such an untenable situation for A&M. The Big Ten is making good money off their network, and growing it every day. The Pac 12 is going to make big money off their network. Both networks provide increased exposure for their non-revenue sports.

It will take some time for it to happen, but I think that it is inevitable that the SEC will go to a conference owned network for 3rd tier television rights. Texas was in a unique position in the Big XII in that they actually could make more money from a single school network than they could from being an equal partner in a conference-wide network. Of course, that's only because of the money that ESPN was willing to guarantee them--something far beyond the expectations of most experts. ESPN may well find it difficult to turn a profit, but, even if they don't, it appears that Texas will be getting paid.

Although it's theoretically possible that some SEC schools might want to explore a similar setup, ESPN has said that the LHN was a one-time deal, so there won't be a similar pot of gold waiting for any other school that is interested in the same concept. That being the case, SEC schools will find that they can make more money with a conference-wide network. And, when the SEC goes about pitching that network to cable distributors, having Texas in its geographic footprint will expand the area where the SEC will get top rates, and expanded basic carriage, by about 40%. The difference between subscription revenue generated by an SEC network with Texas in the geographic footprint and one without will be significant.
