I want wvu but they'll be a 6 or 7 win team most years in the sec. That's perfectly fine with me.

the first few years yea we would but we will build the depth and could increase our pull with dc,pa and ohio recruits

I agree WVU makes the product stronger. I would think A&M brings enough of a financial coup that we wouldn't let Mizzou's population (which couldn't care less about SEC football) be the deciding factor.

If the population of Missouri is making or breaking us expanding then we shouldn't be expanding.

I also don't like offering a school that would rather be in the B1G over one that would rather be in the SEC. It's selling your soul-ish.

I guess you think Mizzou fans sit on their hands and speak of tea and crumpets?

You don't get it. Is Mizzou some LSU crazed fans school? In football no, not now. But they are certainly crazed basketball wise (Hello Arky Rival, Hello Texas A&M Hate for LSU). They seat 71k and are sold out. Expansion of the stadium probably in the next 10-15 years. They know the game of football and will fit right in the SEC in no time.

You clearly were not around when Arky and SC joined the league. While we may all make fun of both of them for their lack of football success in actually winning the conference, they both have won NCAA sanctioned National Championships in other sports while being SEC Members. While I was familiar with a 10 team league my entire life, 12 didn't "ruin" anything. In fact it made it better.

So please stop coming off as immature 20 year olds who are clueless about the ways of the world and think everything should be your way cause the world and therefore the SEC revolves around you. It doesn't. The SEC as a instituition will be just fine with 12, 14 or 16 members. This is bigger than just how you feel

I'm just saying that Kentucky would have had the same amount of success that wvu had. And one thing a lot of people forget is that good teams can't always have good records especially in the sec. I just can't see wvu being consistently better or as good as Tennessee, uga, usce, and obviously uf. The odds are just stacked against them in an enormous way.

People tend to forget that when West Virginia lost to Pitt so LSU could jump into the BCS title game, Mizzou was the #1 team in the country that morning.

Fwiw, they averaged 61k last year. They've only reached 70k three times since 1983. And other than a few years with Corby Jones and then Chase Daniel, I never remember them being that competitive.

Fair point, but Mizzou only has 2 team national championships in all sports, the last coming in 1965.

I'm not wholeheartedly against Mizzou joining, but let's not pretend they have some elite athletic program that's an automatic slam dunk over WVU or anyone else.

People tend to forget a lot of things about mizzou. Mostly that they exist.

It's blatant discrimination against Appalachian Americans. If WVU were a black school, we could call Jesse Jackskon and Rev. Sharpton (or even Obama ) but hillbillies are not a protected minority under Federal law.

Accordingly, I guess we gonna have to call out Jesco and family to kick some SEC educator and adminstrator azz

Good one. I'm not against mizzou but they're the poster child for a nameless faceless program (football or basketball). They're a college team in a pro sports state. A big10 team at heart in the big 12. They've had some great years but you have to remind people. When I think of mizzou nothing comes to mind.

I think if this whole big 4 power conference thing happens, the ACC and SEC will regret leaving out WVU. It has a solid football and basketball program.

Aside from market, UM offers significantly better academics. According to the ever popular US News and World Report UM is #90, WVU comes in at #168. Barring ACC schools and assuming OU and OSU go west, UM is clearly the best get for 14. WVU makes a strong case for 15, but who do you take to get to 16?

Personally, I'd grab TCU. But only because I don't think another school from Florida would get voted in. I'd like to see USF in the SEC.

The business of the SEC (and the reason for crazed LSU and Bama and UGA and UF and Arky and SC and Tennessee and UK and Auburn and Ole Miss and Cowbell MSU and even Vandy)is football. So come off your high horse pal, I've been around probably a lot longer than you can count.

You clearly were not around when Arky and SC joined the league.
I was around when GA Tech and Tulane left the league. I was around for Billy Cannon's run. I was around when LSU beat Arky (SWC) in the Cotton Bowl, 14-7, and broke their longest win streak in the nation and #2 ranking. I was around when LSU went up to South Bend and lost a great 3-0 game to Notre Dame and went up in the next week's rankings. I was around for the great and frustrating (for LSU fans) Bear Bryant years at Alabama. So please don't lecture me about what SEC football is about, or what the "institution" means. I don't care if it's 12, 14, or 16 teams. What I care about is the degree of football tradition and passion the newbies bring in. Oh, and BTW, both Arky and USC brought in their own rabid fan bases, even if you and your effete cronies made fun of them back then. I'm personally very glad both teams are in the SEC. I would have been very glad to welcome WVU and hope to still be able to do so. I just don't see Mizzou or the State of Missouri as a whole to be the kind of passionate football fanbase or program that has made the SEC the #1 brand in the college football world. I hope to be proven wrong if they get the invite.

Like I said in an earlier post, the only Mizzou merchandise I see in Southern Missouri is from Wal-Mart which also sells OU merchandise. Bad when OU and Arkansas fans take over Southwest Missouri. Springfield,MO/Branson,MO sure as hell don't like The University of Missouri after years(15+yrs) of blocking SMSU name change to Missouri State University which FINALLY went through about 6yrs ago.
