frick reforming, I want 2 conferences to collapse so we can have the 4 16-team superconferences.

Sir, while whatever teams the B12 adds may indeed command less money and in theory there would be room for Texas to make up the difference the fact is they must find some network somewhere to pay a large enough pie to satisfy Texas and whomever they bring.

i'm sure fox sports and ABC are still willing to air the games and pay for it. why wouldn't they?

quote:

That will not be easy and probably impossible if the big game of the year is Texas v Baylor or Boise. Networks will not pay $$ money for that Conf lineup.

the ACC just got a pretty good deal and their prime time game may not even be that good

and UT/BSU would be a huge ratings game, at least for a few years. look at the VT/BSU ratings last year

quote:

Networks are gonna have to pony up more to air the new Super Conf games and Texas alone or with the schools you list have very little chance to command the $$ to make all happy.

your argument is backwards

networks are jumping into the CFB market. the ones left out will make deals to get their footprint on the market

quote:

Finally the reason we are here in the first place is unequal revenue sharing and the LN is why A&M left and to a large extent why OU is looking around.

so the solution, for Texas, is to recruit schools who aren't as big who will take it

quote:

You are seriously overestimating the ability of Texas to get paid

look at what UT got for the LHN alone. for 3rd tier bullshite

having UT rules Texas. increasing that blueprint east and west creates a much bigger tv area

i am no expert, and am admittedly biased against conference expansion, but my feeling is that at the end of all this, the Big 12 stays in tact and adds a couple of minnows to their ranks.
