Why are people ripping on Texas?

Here are Texas' options:
1. Try to keep the status quo which makes you lots of money.
2. be forced to change conferences which will make you less money.
If you made 500000 a year with your current job would you be happy about all of a sudden making 400000 a year for the same job?
That is Texas' position and I don't blame them for doing everything possible to make more money.
It is capitalism and I love it.

I think this is the basic sentiment of most haters.

Every school would have taken the ESPN deal but only 1 was offered. End of story.

I agree. The Texas hate is just class warfare on the level of college football.
Texas haters are no better than Obama lovers who want to stick it to rich people they are jealous of.

Would you be happy about taking a big pay cut? Would you do everything you could to prevent that pay cut?

The analogy given is far too simple to get anything other than the answer you are looking for.
Much more accurate to the situation would be, If you were already making 25-50% more than all the other people in your office, would you risk putting the company that you all work for out of business so you can make 75-100% more than the other people in your company? Texas' answer is yes, yes I would.

On the arrogance meter, Texas has got to be in the top 3 in college sports. To know them is to say yes they deserve it.

the better analogy is "would you be willing to let 25% of the other workers at your company get fired so you could make 25% more?"
the answer for me would be yes.

Than you are a selfish a-hole. That seems kind of morally reprehensible to me. But to each his own.
But that was a horrible justification for Texas' actions.

The bird in the hand is not always better than the two in the bush.
I'm convinced that in the not-too-distant future, the Longhorns will rue the day that the LHN was ever created.
Every sport will see their travel costs go up. Longhorn fans will have to travel much father to away games. There will be no such thing as border wars anymore, nothing like the Red River Rivalry will exist.

Which explains why you don't understand why people are ripping Texas. I guess you'll be just as satisfied when Alabama takes over the SEC and starts laying down the law to LSU?

Interesting situation ain't it....you have the revenue sharing of the BCS mostly on the backs of the big boys and UT bucks the system by getting more for themselves, but their little confederation(Big-12) said, "frick That!" and many start to leave for greener pastures.
Now, are you arguing the Big-12 schools ought to keep the status quo w/ UT's TV deal and make less money yearly than them staying in the Big-12?
Problem is UT feels/felt like nobody, or only one or two schools, would bolt the conference and not implode thus making them a fortune and breaking the rest. The rest are seeking what is best for them.
What is the problem w/ criticizing/recognizing the supreme arrogance of UT in this situation?

There is something wrong with you.
And if you really thought about it, it would not be worth it. You would have created a bad name for yourself (no one would trust you) and someone has to make up for their workload (you since you are paid more, thus more responsibility). The company would be less productive and fail, just like the Big 12.

Conferences, by their exact and required nature, are collectivist. It is one for all AND all for one.
Texas is all for one and one for one, acting like an independent within the framework of a conference.
In a captalist world, there are partnerships. True partnerships don't allow one partner to have side deals and not share. That's exactly what Texas wants.
