Exactly... The only away games they would play closer than south carolina would be UT, OU, OkSt, and Texas Tech. At best, you'd probably only get three of those at home, then one of the Arizona's at home. So you'd have one Arizona away, and one to two other out of division games every year farther away than SC.

The Ags have fielded some damn fine football teams over the years. A great fan base. A good SEC fit.

STFU, I heard the same thing on Cowherd this morning, which I'm sure is where that guy heard it. The distance is pretty fricking close, and it makes a very valid point.

You don't always have to be a dick and a numbers stickler just to try and make yourself sound smart.

I think A&M added to the SEC would be a great way to give LSU another rival team. SEC has tried to shove the Arkansas rivalry down our throats and it never fit. Make LSU vs. A&M the last game every year.

I think they will be about as successful as Ole Miss in the SEC. Maybe a bit more.

I agree, but that's pretty successful.

Disagree. Ole Miss splits a much weaker talent pool with Miss State. If aTm could pull off a good coaching hire, the sky would be the limit for the lone SEC school in Texas.

The sky might be the limit, but that's how I see it playing out falls a bit short of that. Just because Texas goes to the Pac10/16 doesn't change the fact that they will be a bigger force that A&M in TX recruiting. Oklahoma will still be the same, as well.

I might get ripped for saying this, but I think there is some overestimating on the bump that SEC inclusion would give A&M (talent wise). There could be a huge bump, but more likely simply a bit of improvement.

Also, it's not like Ole Miss is a bottom-dweller. They beat the top teams on occassion, contend for titles but can't seem to get past the top programs in the conference. I think aTm will be the same, maybe a bit better....which is to say they will have success but not many division or conference titles in the near future.

bottom line - in to be successful (in the long run) you need the right coach at a program capable of winning teh SEC

I think A&M is a program with the potential to win the SEC if they have the right coach in place

aTm could now boast that they are in the SEC which is a major selling point that they didn't have over Texas before. Kids now realize the SEC sends the most players to the NFL and is currently the highest level of competition. There is more talent in east TX than the entire state of MS. Look at LSU's transformation a decade ago as an example of locking down local talent and good coaching.

Like I said before, I would think they would get some improvement in recruiting b/c of the SEC factor. Like you said, they will have a selling point they didn't have before. But, I don't think it is going to completely change the landscape of TX recruiting. Same talent base, same competitors, different sales pitch.

People keep saying they "could" with the right coaching. Well that's true of a lot of programs. I am not disputing that. There is potential, but they are more likely to be average to above average in the conference.

I think the TX kids that want to go to LSU just to be in the SEC will be considering aTm more. We may lose out on future Russell Shepards, Chancey Agayheres, and Mike Brockers to aTm.

Agree and you can add Arkansas to the mix. The Hogs have already made inroads into OK and I see that expanding as well as their continued recruiting expansion into Texas.
