actually, they had a huge win yesterday against Ohio State...Miami, with its new coach, could do some good things.
Really? That's interesting... Never heard anything about it yesterday - I tried to stay away from ESPN after we lost - and had just assumed OSU won. Were all their players back for it?

Forgot to mention that, but yeah - the last thing we need is to bring in ANOTHER program with a history of cheating

The location of Morgantown just isn't jiving with me...I would prefer to stick with teams further south...
From a fan's perspective understandable. From the SEC's perspective I think they'll value having a team as far north as Morgantown. It's as close as we'll ever get to the north/northeast.
Recruits in the OH/PA area would have a legit close option for SEC sports. A definite encroachment on B1G territory, that I think the SEC wants.
Plus if we're eventually going to 16 anyhow then it makes sense to get your northernmost team now. Fill in the gaps later.

SEC considering FSU, VT, and Clemson for membership. FSU's president voted to increase the buyout to eliminate its competitors, knowing the others would not be willing or able to pay the buyout, whereas FSU would.

Having grown up in South Florida. By "South Florida", i mean the three counties in the Miami metro area, Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach. Why USF is in Tampa always confused me. Anyways, The Miami area is the East coast. Practically nothing in common with the Deep South. You might as well invite Rutgers or UConn to the SEC.

I like it
but I wouldn't rule out VT paying it

quote:Not Miami. Between FSU and VaTech, I'd say FSU has more to offer long-term, but VaTech would expand the footprint. But grab two of them and there's a bill from the ACC in the realm of $40 million on Slive's desk. How much will game ticket prices have to increase to make up for that?
Va Tech, Florida State and Miami

/\ i think it's more like the sec already rejected fsu, so fsu is stuck in the acc and now trying to prevent vt from leaving. remember, uf/usc/uga are against fsu/clemson/gt joining, and also, fsu chose the acc over the sec 30 years ago citing basketball and academics. karma's a bitch, fsu.

I wasn't being serious. However, your theory actually makes a lot of sense.
