read elsewehere that the SEC approached them when Texas almost nuked the Big 12 a year or so ago... so apparently interest was there on the part of teh SEC.

doesn't make it true. we have all read a ton of stuff on the internet in the past year or so from supposed "inside sources", much of which has turned out to be false.

So, OU will make less money to stay in a conference with Texas and the LHN. Things couldn't have worked out worse for OU. They have learned their place.

is this what Texas athletics has degenerated to? Longhorns suck on the field so you brag about television deals? frick off.

these are schools, not publicly traded companies or privately owned pro sports teams. school presidents and AD's dont get a dividends check every quarter for how much money they made on the television contracts. maybe it was more cost effective to remain where they were, rather than jump into a new situation.

Shows OU is really Texas' butt boy after all.

I think OU/ OSU/ Mizzou/ A&M are headed to the SEC.

the prospect of four divisions with four teams each does make this seem possible - but it is only one of many possibilities

There isn't much talk about it right now ... but aside from staying in the Big 12 or going to the PAC - the Big 10 is another power player that would make a lot of sense (for at least the Big 10)

If the Big 10 added OU, Ok state, and MU they would go to 14 teams and suddenly have pretty much every midwestern college football program worth mentioning ... this can not be a new thought to the people in the Big 10

I'm not sure where OU would decide their best interests lie tho - they would have regionally interesting games against Ok State and Nebraska but unless Texas were scheduled ooc they would go from playing four games a year in the state of Texas to none. That does seem like recruiting suicide

Okie President and AD and Stoops just made public statements that they are firmly committed to Big12.

Actually, they said they are committed to finding a way to make the Big-12 work with LHN and unequal revenue sharing. But if the Pac-12 schools couldn't, what makes you think the Big-12 schools can?

Without the Pac-12 leverage in negotiations, I would expect the Oklahoma schools to at least listen to the SEC, and who knows where that might lead.

That's a great point. I think the B1G wants to add more teams the get their conference further south and further east - north east. Not sure Mizzou fits that bill - but who knows. Like you said - that would kill Mizzou's chances of landing Texas recruits.

And they are totally dependent on them right now. from Chase Daniel on down. I counted 33 on the current roster:
