University of Texas is the ultimate Aggie joke!

Talk about coming with hat in hand. UT wanted more money, they got it. They also didn't want more vigorous competition, they got that too.
UT got rid of the team that beat them in the Big 12 Championship game (Nebraska got screwed). They got rid of Colorado that beat them in another Big 12 Championship game several years ago. They are left with teams they regularly beat and still run the show.
The Aggies got more money, which could make them more competitive. The Aggies looked like they could finally make a decision without calling Austin first, as well.
No, UT screwed the pooch. They lost control of the process and had to retreat back to the safe harbor of the reduced Big 12.
What a bunch of candy asses UT turned out to be.

Texas A&M should have committed to the SEC a few days ago before Texas had a chance to "save" the Big 12 and look like the hero. Then this would have never happened.

I would have welcomed the Faggies. UT is another story.
All being equal, watching Texass retreat was almost as good as watching Bama spank that Longhorn arse in the BCS.

A&M bent over and took it...they had a chance to surpass UT and they passed...

your statement is the reason why you'll be looking for another conference in < 5 years.

Really, that lucrative TV contract has been signed, sealed, delivered already?
It's the end of today, and what you're school really has is no cajones because it ultimately settled and tried to paint A&M as the antagonist.
You may very well have your money soon, but I'd be willing to bet your reputation nationally took a big hit...not that I'm sure greedy tu cares.

The reality of the Big XII is that it was the last hope to two small, shitty, money-losing pretender conferences in the Big 8 and the SWC. The SWC was on a fast train headed nowhere and depended on the Cotton Bowl as its money making bowl. The only three teams in that entire conference that ever had a shot at anything resembling oranges or the Arizona desert were Texas, A&M, and Arkansas and by the time the 1980's had rolled aroud, all three were never ever in the big hunt. I still remember Arkansas hosting Miami in 1987 and getting beat 50-14 or something terrible and at the time, the Hogs were ranked higer.
Meanwhile, the Big 8 was nothing but OU and Nebraska and 6 of their little brothers. Oklahoma State was respectable when they had Barry and the Kansas schools were a joke. Colorado was the last team to taste prominence from the conference.
When Arkansas picked the SEC, they made the smartest move in the world. The BIG XII LOOKED good on paper and here and there, they were good. Ultimtately and on paper, they've nee one of the three best footyball conferences, despite only putting out two BCS champions in '00 and '06 since the creation some 16-17 seasons ago. In reality, the conference is what it set out to be and that is double what the SWC and Big 8 were.
The Big XII is the most lopsided conference of all, divisionally speaking. Iowa State is just there because they were the last man picked to even out the teams; Nebraska knew they had to get out as the conference really wasn't for them anymore; Baylor will NEVER win the south; Texas Tech and OSU must be perfect to win the south; Colorado is now a stinker.
Perhaps UT saved the BIg XII today or not, but that conference is very weak when it comes to top to bottom. You cannot compare it, overall, to the SEC. Look at Vandy - almost going to the CWS. If you want to simply talk football, look no further than crowd figures and bowl coalitions. No one competes with the SEC and A&M and Florida State both knew that and that's why both wanted to get a piece.
A&M...you'll stay Texas's bitch, but it's too bad...you have the potential to own them again in sports as you did for a good decade ('85-'95 or so). You could have gotten out from under that ridiculous shadow.
