A little quote to go with your thread - "perception is in the eye of the beholder".

If you perceive this fantasy you have created in your head that all fans of a school in the SEC are afraid of Texas to join the league, then that's what you have made as your own reality.

I can tell you that you're dead wrong. I would love for the SEC to invite Texas, A&M, and OU for the west and some other team (I don't really care) for the east and be done with it. Then, move Auburn and Bama to the east and let them play Florida every year like we do.

To me, that is the ideal situation. Whether or not that happens remains to be seen.

But as others have said, "if in doubt, rub one out."

Would you like to have Texas in the SEC?", every SEC fan, to a man, says no.

I'd much rather have UTexas over A&M. But I really don't want either schools.

There are complaints about culture differences

This is a stupid argument. Texas A&M is just as culturally different from the SEC as UTexas is.

the arrogance of Texas alumni/fans

Only because they have been winning. Aggie fans can be just as annoying when they want to be. Most UTexas Alumni that I know have much more in common with me(an LSU Alum) than Texas Ags.

"Narcissim"? Louisiana cranks out great football players but not nearly as many as Texas. We put out many more 5* players because of our population ergo we have more to lose.

On the contrary. Since LSU's recruiting pool is so much smaller, LSU cannot afford to lose what few 5*'s we produce. Texas, OTOH, can afford to lose a few.

Plus, like I said, LSU got into Texas through aggie anyway. Quite a few LSU QBs have come out of Texas, and LSU relies on getting 3-5 players out of Texas each class.

But you're really just supporting my position by justifying WHY Texas is scared to play LSU.

Why didn't these two teams play from 1962-2002? It makes no sense, until you think back to 1969 when the Tigers were all lined up to play Texas in the Cotton, but fearing a beatdown of the nature of the '62 Cotton, Texas with the Cotton Bowl comittee lobbied Notre Dame to end its bowl ban.

If this is true then this statement has no basis
"So why is it okay for you guys to consider external factors (other than the quality of competition) in your own personal analysis of whether or not Texas should be in the SEC but when Texas legitimately weighs those very same factors they are p*****s? It could be said that SEC fans, using your own standards, are p*****s that are afraid to play Texas,"

According to the first statement Texas tries at every turn not to play LSU unless pushed into a closet and forced to. Now, you tell me who is scared of who?

Texas is like the Terrell Owens of college. All they are is an attention whore. No one has ever done so little, with so much. Every year they are at the top of the recruiting class, and they have 47,000 holiday bowl appearances. They have ruined two conferences, I don't want their whiney butts in the SEC ruining ours.

i believe the first choice is texas. bring on texas. not scared one bit. however, it's texas antics that are pissing people off. trying to get other teams to stonewall against the s.e.c., making threats to those who may consider the s.e.c.

looks like texas has an open invitation. no one is scared. their action tends to lead one to believe they are.

I'd love to see Texas PLAY AN SEC SCHEDULE. especially if TAMU and OU announce they're joining before Texas does.

Texas plays one or two tough games per year. Let's see them play 8 or 9 tough games before all those hookem signs are flashed in Baton Rouge, Tuscaloosa, Knoxville, or Gainesville.

I don't believe it. I don't think SEC fans would be afraid to play Texas.

However, it holds as much merit as saying that Texas is going to the Pac 16 because it is afraid to play in the SEC. Texas has a Cal alum as its University President and he is living out his fantasy of getting Texas in a conference with Cal & Stanford.

then it looks like he's putting his own interest above the university. got to love that. your head man doesn't care what is best for texas/the university you love.

That's not hypocrisy, it's two different subjects.

1. Texas is a pussy.
2. We don't want pussies in the SEC.

How does a 1000 miles and 10pm CST kick offs make sense?

This is FAILURE. Texas can either join the SEC now or come crawling when they lose 25 percent of their fan base.

No, this is simply the Ghost of the SWC coming back to bite Texas on the arse.

When SMU was kicking the dog shite out of everybody in the SWC, Texas and the Faggies didn't like it, not one bit.

SMU must have been cheating, right?

Well, the destruction of the SWC lies at the feet of UT and A&M. Now money talks, bullshite walks, all the way to the PAC 10.

Hate it for the Texas fans to realize for the second time in 25 years that the football world does not revolve around Austin or College Station.

He does care and he is convinced that what he is doing is in the best interested of Texas.

As usual, leave it to an Arkie to be wrong. Texas will only play one game a year in the Pacific time zone so the 2 hour time difference is no big deal.

???

Are you implying that SMU wasn't cheating? That is pretty well established.

Look, the SWC died after 80 years because you can't have a one state conference in the modern era of football. The Big 12 died because it contained too many crap schools with too few eyeballs watching TVs to generate enough $.

i believe obama cares too. however, his belief isn't making the united states any stronger/better.

following a dream of your own to have the university you run be like stanford or cal is not in the best interest of your school. it's called conflict of interest.

FWIW I don't think this. But I will say this UT doesn't excite me like A&M does. LSU has a history with the Aggies, not so much with the Horns. I don't really care if the Horns are in the SEC or not. Honestly I don't think UT fits in the SEC. They seem to have a elitest opinion about themselves as a university. They think their above the SEC, thats why I really don't want them here.

SMU wasn't the only school in the SWC that cheated. That is pretty well established as well.

BTW, there were no "clean hoofs" either.
