Moustache,

This is stupid. Will Texas be changing "Texas Fight?"

The whole song is anchored, in the first line, on Texas A&M: "Texas Fight! Texas Fight! And it's goodbye to A&M!"

WTF do 100+ year old songs have to do with conference alignment in 2011?

True, but they also have the Eyes of Texas and other cheers that dont reference A&m. At all.

yall's whole identity is based on them IMO.

It seems like you are talking out of your arse based on something you may have heard.

While we hate texas and I'd love nothing more than to see them drown in their arrogance, there are plenty of our songs and yells that have nothing to do with them.

A&M's Alma Mater, The Spirit of Aggieland, does not mention them.

List of A&M Yells

Of the yells, I cannot think of one nor can I find one that references texas, other than Beat the Hell, and that's only when we are playing them.

Just weird to be saying "saw varsity's horns off" when yall beat mizzou.

Besides, the Ags shouldn't be allowed in just for this reason alone:

Sorry about the second reply to a posting.

But this right here is kind of the point of the move to a different conference. It appears that A&M's administration has finally grown a set again (Sul Ross had one before) and is telling texas where they can fsck themselves. So in my replies, I'm agreeing and disagreeing with you. I imagine other schools, like Texas Tech, probably hate them just as much but there isn't much they can do about it. A&M is finally getting large enough and has a little bit of pull that we might be able to break away from them.

It is what it is. And I wouldn't look for it to change even if we never play them again. In fact, the song might have more meaning to us then.

I see what you're saying, but you're still basing the identity on them.

Think about it. I'm not hearing from teh Aggies about how great a move it is because it helps them in this, that , and this.

But, I hear, "Good, now we can finally tell texas to frick themselves! FURK YEEHAW!"

There are (or will be in two years) exactly 12 universities in Texas (both public and private) participating in D-1 football, exactly the number needed to have a conference with a championship game:

Big 12-2: A&M, Baylor, Texas, Texas Tech
C-USA: SMU, Rice, Houston, UTEP
Big East (future): TCU
WAC (future): Texas State, UTSA
Sun Belt: North Texas

If Texas and A&M didn't hate each other so much, they could keep all the politicians in the state happy by rebuilding the old Southwest Conference.

UT-Arlington could come in as a non-football 13th member (to keep my alma mater happy since we surprisingly did get a D-1 conference invite). Baylor could stay in a D-1 conference plus with Rice and North Texas it may actually win two conference games a year. TCU avoids the expense of long flights to the East Coast for games.

Of course it won't happen and I'm not advocating it. Just had to have a few for the board.

We'll probably be about as competitive as we are in football now in the SEC with a gradual improvement over time as the hogs and cocks have done. Middle of the road with some suprise wins every now and then.

Our women's basketball team could win the conference.

Men's basketball will be towards the top of the conference.

Track and field, following right along with lsu, florida, arkansas in the titles.

Probably going to sell more football season tickets once its announced and going down the road. I know more fans would like to see the likes of Auburn, Alabama, Florida, LSU instead of Baylor, Kansas State, Kansas, ISU.

And yes, we can finally tell texas to fsck themselves.

2 songs that are anyone knows the words to and are regularly sung.

And I provided the list with most of the yells.

I think you guys will be about how good Ark has been pre-Petrino.

All agreed, but your baseball program would probably go down. Still a good thing for the aggies, but for some reason most Ags are not focusing on these positives and are only focusing on:

And yes, we can finally tell texas to fsck themselves.

Don't forget baseball (made it to the CWS, will be interesting games when LSU comes back to prominence) and softball (had the misfortune of drawing Arizona State in this year's super regional -- nobody was going to take them down).

Yeah for the 1st time in 12 years and lost to an SEC team (SC) who later went on the face another SEC team in the title game (UF), who had to eliminate 2 SEC teams just to get there (Vandy/MSU).

Oh and none of that had to do with LSU who will surely be back soon.

I guarantee you A&M will have a harder time in the SEC for baseball than in the BigXII.

So, if the Aggies do ever join the SEC, am I the only one who will find it hilarious, yet gay at the same time that they will be playing Alabama or LSU or Auburn and be singing in their fight song about cutting off varsity's horns. I know they do that now in the Big 12, but at least they can say they play TExas.

Not a big deal really.. GT has in our fight songs yelling "to Hell with Georgia" and references to "dropping the battle axe on georgia's head"
