There's no need to worry about whether A&M will stick out like a sore thumb. We're not coming to the SEC.....EVER. We're stuck with this shitty conference full of steer cockgobblers and chumpchange TV money.

the reality in this thread is the Piggie fans are very, very afraid of the prosect of A&M joining the SEC.

That one is.

And I'm still waiting for the OP to explain

"They do not fit into the SEC,...scholastically..."

Hey H-Town.

I really don't think Arkansas fans are afraid of A&M joining. We already are locked in to play them for the next 8 years and we've been in a conference with them prior to the SEC. It really won't change things much for us.

buildings painted a weird prison reformatory school brown

The SEC really does not need another engineering school. SO besides that, A&M is really different than most of the schools in the SEC.

Hawg, you've obviously never been to our campus. The buildings aren't painted. Just beige brick. And there's a lot of new buildings in the last 5 years that are mostly glass

there seems to be an inordianant amount of Piggies almost violently opposed to A&M joining the SEC. The OP's irrational, nonsensical comments indicate fear.

no, its really not.

Of teams not currently in the SEC no team makes as much sense from a financial, cultural and geogrpahic standpoint. There are many teams that fit 1 or 2 of those 3 criteria, but not all 3 as well as A&M..

I think y'all are weird and am not excited about A&M joining. Just doesn't have an "SEC" feel to me.

agreed, so all the SEC peps are like whatever and the Aggies have a crush on our league. too bad. stay where you are and as far as afraid?

You will see how afraid we are this fall as we stomp a mud-hole and walk it dry. Just please do not join in the SEC chant when we start it, thanks

I thought the SEC was a football conference, and it's looking--from the posters here--like an architecture and sociology conference.

I think we'll field some decent teams and have some fun, even if you don't agree with our building codes or the hem of our women's sun dresses.

I couldn't care less about the architecture. But I don't see y'all as a good cultural fit. If we were desperate and HAD to add a team, then A&M would be a good consideration. But I don't know why the SEC needs to force the issue for a school that isn't a great fit in the first place.

Unfortunately, Mike Slive has not called and asked my opinion on the matter, so it's a moo point

Hardly, I welcome A&M.

Are you really that dense? What happens in one or 2 games is not relevant. Arky fans seem apoplexy about A&M joining the SEC, which tells me that fear the Aggies joining, maybe because they know A&M could do even better than the Piggies in the SEC.

Two questions and be serious font flame.

What is SEC culture?
What is A&M culture?

Conservative? Passionate about football? Like to tailgate and drink?

Just because we don't have cheerleaders doesn't change our whole culture

I really don't get this view of so many SEC fans. A&M is a large, passionate fanbase, crazy about football thats in the south. So they have some silly cheers and chants. Its not that big of a deal. On game day the atmosphere is great, unlike say UT, which has more of a Pac 10, laid back fanbase. Culturally, UT and UNC do not fit really, A&M, FSU, Clemson, do. But we already have teams in SC and Fla, so the aggies bring a lot more.

The point is they don't want to get desperate and wind up scrambling to add teams that don't bring as much to the table. If the Pac 16 idea had gone thru, the only options to expand into Texas would be teams like UH or Rice, who do not bring nearly the fan base as A&M and hence not near the revenue.

I've read if the SEC expands into new markets (ie states with out current SEC teams), they can redo the TV deals and get a lot more. given the new deal the Pac 12 got, you would think the SEC can get a lot more from CBS/ESPN. That's

Dude, we've owned them recently and in the past. 40-24-3 all time.

I just don't see where you're getting we're scared of them joining.

I don't really care either way, I personally don't think the SEC needs to expand at the present, but if the do A&M is the best choice. I like playing them every year either way as it is an old SWC rivalry. Honestly, them joining will only strengthen our recruiting in Texas long term.
