Legal issues. SEC doesn't want to be on the wrong end of a suit from Big 12 members claiming tortious interference with contractual relations re Big 12 tv deal. If A&M leaves, tv deal could be voided. Let A&M bolt first, file application to join SEC, and then SEC can add without fear of reprisal.

Everything that was announced today was to help the SEC stay away from legal troubles.

That could well be the case in regard to Texas A&M. But don't underestimate Florida's resolve in opposing Florida State's addition.

That was the main message today.

Again, dude, do you REALLY think Slive would go into this not knowing who he would invite as a fourteenth team and what the other presidents would think? Really?

You must not be following me. I've said all along Slive wanted FSU in along with TAMU.

This is where we differ. Slive had a plan he thought he could sell. He underestimated Florida's resolve against FSU.

No, that never happens.

You think Slive went into this not knowing UF's position on FSU?

You think he knows how USC feels about Clemson?

How about UG and GT?

If he didn't know he's dumber than we all thought.

I think my school might face some serious backlash in legal mess. It might be enough to make the BOR say no. It would be sad to see the sips get to have their cake and eat it.

Regardless, one of the other big conferences is going to snag Mizzou or Kansas. They won't sit in the shit12 with uneven revenue when they could go to the big10 or even the bigleast and get paid.

If and when any of the 9 bolt, I don't see any teams dumb enough to get in this conference except scrubs. uHouston is the only team that could possibly be better off in this conference.

I think he underestimated UF's resolve against it, or overestimated his ability to sell the plan, yes.

I never thought adding Clemson was in the picture. different states, with different situations.

I could see a NC school before a SC one.

Mizzou already tried for the Big 10, and the Big 10 told them to frick off. No one wants Kansas- they were gonna get left out last year. Bsketball, it turns out, dont mean shite.

dude, hes a former judge. Lawyers dont go into situations without knowing all relevant information. You dont think when he conocted this little plan he knew how to pick up the phone and call Florida's president?

It's a known fact that in any court case, someone wins and someone loses.

Slive lost this.

court cases arent lost because a lawyer didnt pick up a phone and call. not by guys of slives caliber.

We argue this all you want. I've been saying from the beginning that Slive had FSU picked to be the 14th school. All indications point to that being the case.

I think you have a higher opinion of Slive than I do. I lost a great deal of respect for the man after the Cam situation.

I can fully believe that Slive mishandled this, and now has to go to plan B, whatever that is.

Forget the TAMU part, I can still see that happening. But the FSU part of the deal is probably done.

overstate things much? what, other than message board chatter, led you to conclude this?

Doesnt matter whether you respct him or not-the Cam situation proved he could get shite done. When the whole country was waiting for cam to get benched, he managed to keep the title hopes alive for the fifth straight year. You may think OJ was guilty, but that doesnt mean Johnny Cochran wasnt a damn good lawyer.

I look forward to when all this comes out. It's all there for anyone to see already, if you have the eyes to see it.

Depend on it, Slive had his plan A, now he's down to plan B.
