If that were really true they wouldn't have been so content to be in the Big 12 pre-departure of Colorado and Nebraska. Texas is a great school academically but I just don't believe the academics is playing that large of a role in this when it's all said and done. They will talk about it, but I highly doubt that it's that important considering the Big 12's academic status being along the lines, maybe even worse overall than the SEC.

Well, I totally agree that academics isn't paying any play into the conference alignments.

I thought you were talking about the attitude of the school towards academics in general. As far as that goes, I'd say UTexas cares a lot more than almost all the SEC schools. In my experience, most SEC fans laugh at the very idea of going to school for an education.

TT isn't getting in the SEC. There is almost no benefit for us putting them in the SEC.

If TT comes as part of a package deal with UT, TAMU, and OU... I bet we take them to get the package.

Well Texas is one of the best academic schools in the entire country with an endowment that outclasses most. I understand that they are very inclined to have good academic standing; however, despite what they say, I really don't believe it's a deciding factor in the expansion talk.

Texas is ranked 47th, tied with Florida. Texas A&M, the second highest academic school in the Big 12, is ranked 61st. Georgia, the third highest ranked school in the SEC, is ranked 58th. Vanderbilt is ranked 17th.

At the top, the SEC is better academically than the Big 12 ever was.

I will guarantee you they'll talk about academics if it furthers their purpose but, at the end of the day, it's all about money. Period.

Who knows what the hell Slive is really up to? I have to believe that the SEC will come out on top when the dust settles from all this bullshite but I will add that if Slive sits back and allows just one conference to overtake our dominance then fire his arse immediately there after.

US News rankings are great and all, but the graduation rates for most schools in the SEC are pretty awful.

I'd rather get Oklahoma State than TT.

All I know is that several players, JUCO notably, have been able to attend OU and OSU when they couldn't not make the academic cut at LSU. Phil Loadholt for example.

As I said, it looks like UT, TAMU, and TT have signed an agreement to stick together. If that's the case you don't have the option to replace TT with OSU. It's an all or nothing deal.

Now, do you take TT if it also gets you UT and TAMU? Yes.

Dallasnews.com is stating that UT and A&M don't have to take TT wherever they go. All of this is changing so damn fast, it makes my head spin.

DN

If TT goes to Pac-10 or SEC or anything worth a damn, they should thank Mike Leach. He gave that program some name recognition. IMO they aren't worth a dang. I equate TT, OSU, and KSU to be about the same.
