A couple of questions for the oppositionists.

How many of you have been anywhere in Missouri other than St. Louis or Kansas City?

How many of you have been to a football game at Mizzou?

Hell I don't think anyone is excited about Mizzou's game against the #4 ranked BCS team this weekend. Haven't heard any fans talking about it or anything in the media.

Exactly. Now contrast that with what you heard when West Virginia had a big game...

You're either a moron or an arse; which is it? You know what we're talking about here.

i think your gonna be stuck in the big east. theyll add some half arse teams and keep the auto bcs spot by the slimmest of margins.

wvu wont get the big tv contract pay day, but should be able to dominate the league for the foreseeable future and makes some nice bank off of bcs games

Yep. A&M, Mizzou and WVU were in my top 4 since expansion talks began last year. Mizzou is a natural IMO.

i think people who do not want mizzou fall into 2 categories:
a) wvu fans (for obvious and justifiable reasons)
b) folks who have pie-in-the-sky dreams of teams who will not be invited, or who would come IF invited.

mizzou will be a fine addition.

Quite a few fall in that category most likely.

I think some of them just believe Mizzou isn't "Southern." They need to grew up and get beyond that kind of thinking. Great geographic expansion and I believe Mizzou will step up to the plate and their football program will be enhanced with entrance to the SEC. Will bring excitement.

There is the belief that Missouri is a "Yankee" State by some in the South. Some believe that Missouri wasn't part of the Confederacy, but the truth is that Missouri was a border state like Kentucky
Right. KY is also not in the South.

Neither is ATL. It's just surrounded by it.

Louisiana is also pretty debatable. It has almost nothing in common with other Southern states regarding culture.

Well, Newbie, I always thought the same about Arkansas and South Carolina.

I wonder how many of them know that among the charter members Florida barely made it into the SEC because the other 12 just didn't see them as enough of a "Southern fit."

The local sports media is a little preoccupied with the cinderella story of STL coming from 10 1/2 games back a month ago to leading in the World Series. But trust me, on saturday we will all be glued to it and screaming our fool heads off.
