hmmmm

travel would be cheaper in the pac 10

if Im at Texas every two years I need to go to Lubbock, College Station , OKlahoma, and Ariz

or BR, Little Rock,, Miss Bama

you only go to the coast once a year,, either,, cali/Oregon.Washington

or Tenn, Kuntucky/Fla.. Ga

its not even close

In what world is travel cheaper when you fly to California than when you fly to Baton Rouge? Utter nonsense. Yeah so many fans will be lined up each year to take that drive from Austin to Tempe every year.

Your division wouldn't even have a coastal team in it. haha. So you might get to travel out there once maybe twice a year depending on how the games are lined up.

Hence why you're a Texas fan. I travel to Alabama and enjoy it not because the town of Tuscaloosa is the most aesthetically beautiful place in the world but because there is a big football game where two passionate fanbases get together for a weekend, and it's only five-six hours away and I can go to work or school on Friday and still make it down there Friday night.

You don't have that advantage. And no, traveling to those schools would be cool initially but would then suck arse because it would be a pain in the arse year in and year out.

That's true. OK, so my limited travel budget didn't wash. I still think it's a good move for A&M to go to the SEC. They need to get away from Texas (the university, not the state!!!) and grow.

and i cant imagine how costly it will end up being having to fly the team, band, etc to every away game except 3 a year

especially in basketball and baseball when you basically play everyone in your conference every year

nope, just pointing out how you're fvcking stupid. A charter team flight from Texas (Austin or Houston or wherever) is cheaper than flying to Tacoma or Seattle. It's simply economics dumbass.

yet you defend them like you have some stake in this. You must feel serious penis envy through all of this. Just ankle biting on the board with no real play in any of it. Have fun relying on mediocre baseball.

no,, its just funny that SEC fans cant see past thier own myopic outlook

the PAC 10 combination is MORE big markets to sell the product in,, $$$$$

Ive said plenty of time the best football in the country in played from Fla to Texas

but this isnt about football its about $$

and as a fan,, of any team I would rather travel once a year to LA... or Seattle or San Fran,, than any town a SEC team plays in

easier to schedule flights,( cheaper), more to do once Im there,,

Everyone knows it's about money and increased television exposure. You're not really saying anything that hasn't already been said a hundred times on here.

Again, depends on what you are looking for during a weekend. San Fran is better than every place in the SEC, but then driving to Paulo Alto for a weekend to watch a football game doesn't give you much time to site see.

It's a lot easier to just go a few hours down the road to a place that actually cares about football. I care about football, you care about looking at an ocean. I can do that in Destin.

No doubt this is about money, but I would submit that a Big 12 school moving to the SEC achieves the goal of increasing revenue while increasing the enjoyment of the game. IMHO there is nothing compelling about taking a road trip to watch my team play washington state or stanford, traveling to oxford/athens/the red stick etc however is just damn good football.

And OWLFAN, we're discussing CHARTER TEAM FLIGHTS. And if you don't realize that distance matters for flight costs I don't know what to tell you.

but "that" game happens ONCE a year in the pac 16,, every other game IS withen driving distance

and in the SEC there would also be at least ONE game you would have to fly to From Austin or Houston

I can drive to LA about as easy as I can knoxville

Using the longhorns as an example
will travel to Seattle ONCE every 16 years

last year there were plenty of LSU fans pumped about going up to play Washignton, a 16 year cycle it will always be fresh

Re: Per Chip: UT, OU, TT, Ok St confirm they'll go to Pac-10; date set Reply
i don't think realizing that A&M bent us over the table on this deal is being a pussy. they want to join the best conference in America. we want to join one where their bellcow will be nonexistent for 2 years and everybody else doesn't even care about football.

what is truth is, we have some real pussies in our admin. they don't want the SEC because they don't think they will win as much. THAT is pussy shite. all the other excuses for the SEC are just that: excuses. Pac10 has USC who just got hit harder than anyone in a long, long time. SEC's academics are BETTER than the Big 12's where we didn't seem to mind. Vandy doesn't seem to mind the SEC.

Not a conference where tailgating can only start at 2pm on a Saturday. Talk about lame.

I have tailgated at Udub, Oregon state and Oregon......those people must not know the law and the police are just letting it slide I guess.

I am in now way comparing tailgating to the sec but your version certainly isn't true from my experiences.

I don't know what to tell you. There is a reason the SEC is the SEC and the Pac 10 isn't. And it starts with passion for the game, something that is lacking on the Pacific Coast.
