I wouldn't be surprised if they ended up somewhere along the lines of Arkyish. Solid program, good enough to break out and win the West every once in a while, get into a BCS game every once in a while. But I'm not sure if they'll ever be able to break out and be a team that gets to the SECCG regularly like the 'Bamas, LSUs, and UFs of the world do.

If they stay the only SEC team in Texas, they will definitely compete eventually.
Might take awhile. But they'll be there one day.

I see this happening too. I'm not sold on Mike Sherman being the man to get them to elite status. But if they make the right hire I think they have all the potential to be in the mix.

Top 20 Recruits from TX. TU has been getting the lion share for the past ten years and looked what they did last year. They have tons of 4-5 star recruits currently on the team. If TX shows interest in a prospect they jump a star by rivals. And your statement that no Aggie commit had offers from TX! Great! Look at MR. World 5 star recruit Garret Gilbert! He is up for a Heisman! Lets research if Von Miller had a Tx offer?

Oh, sgallo, you are so clueless. You are using rivals rankings and also don't understand how different coaches use "offers".
I will tell you this. I would not trade recruiting classes with UTa this year

i just think its funny people think players that would have went to UT are now gonna go to A&M because they are in the SEC. UT pretty much gets who they want in Texas and that will continue. It would be like if a Louisiana High School Player gets offers from LSU and Ole Miss, with A&M being the Ole Miss. Who is gonna be more popular in the high school halls? It's dumb as hell but noone ever claimed recruits were geniuses

LSU and Ole Miss are in different states.
In the 80's and early 90's kids wore A&M gear and A&M cherry picked recruits in the state of Texas.
It wasn't until Mack was hired and UTa blew past A&M in the bricks and mortar race that we started losing the recruits.
A&M now has updated facilities and is continually doing so. We have the better product on the field and starting next year can offer better games to play in (Bama, UF, LSU vs OU, Tech, Baylor)

i agree with monticello and the aTm guys.
playing in the SEC will be a huge attraction to recruits, would you want to go to Texas and have one big game vs Oklahoma or have the chance to go up against auburn, alabama and LSU week in and week out
ESPN globs all over how mighty the SEC is, you think they don't hear it or are persuased by all the national exposure?
sure texas will have the LHN but what 18 year old is going to tune into channel 1231902 to watch the Texas v. New Mexico state football game?

on top of that you can't possibly make the argument that there isnt enough talent in texas for UT and aTm to both be national powers
Posted on 9/22/11 at 11:58 pm to sgallo3
You know what else is funny? If A&M starts winning and has a little success in the SEC, let's see if LSU can still pull the Tolliver's, Shepard's, Addai's, Lee's, Loston's, etc.

It's official. You sir are retarded.
A&M beats Texas in the conference once since 1998 and they have the better product.

and while texas continues to rack up 10 win seasons in the Big XII and A&M is going 7-5 in the SEC, A&M is gonna steal recruits from Texas?

Posted on 9/23/11 at 12:11 am to sgallo3
Gallo, my man.
You can't think about this so contextually. I'll have to be sure you make it to the first LSU game at Kyle. While we're cracking beers, I'll pick apart these stale arguments of yours.
Deal?

the only reason LSU got out of our hole was because we could lock up Louisiana recruiting and recover. A&M doesn't have that luxury
Yea sharing all of Texas with UT is such a disadvantage.

Texas went 5-7 last year and don't look too improver this year.
A&M is ranked #8.
Yes, we have a better product on the field. Tune in Thanksgiving night and see for yourself

You guys should drop the whole UTa thing. Auburn fans with inferiority issues call us UAT and it is lame as hell.

I think he's trying to account for the fact that he's posting on a SEC board where another UT is a mainstay. But, at the same time, I don't think it was necessary to distinguish given the thread's content.
And Aggies say tu, not UTA...Yes, you could argue this is lame too. I just prefer horns.

UTA = University of Texas at Arlington
