My view of Texas A&M to the SEC

SEC fan and I decided to make a name on here to give my take on this whole atm/sec expansion deal. I'm from a small place on the Louisiana/Texas state line and grew up when the LSU ATM rivalry was big in the late 80's early 90's. This was a huge game and fun from where I was from to smack talk with all the ATM fans with the annual state of Louisiana vs state of Texas battle.
I never could stand the "faggies" like my friends and I would call them. I was given the opportunity to visit my buddy who went to school at Texas ATM one fall for the weekend and attend a game. His whole family are aggies. I was welcomed in and shown a good time. They have some crazy and weird traditions but they grow on you and over time I think would grow on us if ATM joins the SEC. The game we went to had to of been over a 100 degrees that afternoon and we sat right in the middle of the alumni section. His grandfather an aggie who had served in their military program and fought in WWII stood the whole game and yelled his lungs out, he had to of been 80-85 years old. You have to experience a game at Kyle Field to understand, their fans have a tremendous amount of passion. It gets loud as hell in there, alot more rowdy than any other crap12, ACC, and some SEC games that I have been too.
The tailgating is not up to par as far as SEC teams do but the fans, College Station people & students are culturaly alike us more than any other team from the Crap12. I couldnt see any other team from that conference come over and fit as well as they would here. Sure they have some negatives like the goofy man leaders, lassie, the loud cheers, and the I'm from the state of Texas and a cowboy thing but they are generally some laid back people unlike the people I have been around in Austin. I dont know where all this talk about them having ugly girls comes from because honestly the times I have been in CS, it's been some nice girls to look at and better than some of the schools in our conference and CS is a fun arse town to party in. Their fans are rowdy and will drink beer with you after a game over at Northgate (the party street)they do have a rude awakening as far as getting heckled from sec fans.
Look at how much success they have had recently in other sports I believe 6 or 7 National Championships Track Basketball Golf, CWS apperance this past year. I think over time if they join, they will run the state of Texas in recruiting, (unfortunately for LSU) just from a 9 win season last year they already have Houston by the balls with 4 of the top 5 committed to them for next season. We are talking about a school with 50,000+ students with alot of resources and $. I cant see how this would be a bad move on our part to include them in with the strong alumni and fan base they have and the Texas market they will bring. They are going to better this year as well for football and should contend for the crap12 championship so their program is headed back to where they were and in the right direction. They're gonna get arse kicked just like any team would coming into the SEC but I really honestly believe they will be able to compete later on and I admire them for finally standing up and growing some balls against the Longhorns unlike Ou and Tech.
I just think they will fit in good and think we should let them in, if anything trade them for Ole Miss. With that I look forward to bringing back a real rival for LSU and think we should give them a chance

I don't want this to happen! I like being the SEC school of choice for Texas recruits. This will hurt our recruiting in Texas. Plus, male cheerleaders! I like things the way they are now in the SEC. What is the deal with teams trying to leave the big 12 anyways? Is it penis envy of Texas?

No, it called LSU envy

yes, that's it penis envy, has nothing to do with the fact that UT tries to run the conference to suit their ends. Nebraska, Colorado, Missouri, A&M are all just "jealous".

Texas is the most traditionaly rich football state, and UT is the flagship university of that state. I still say penis envy. I am not à UT fan though. I only care about LSU. Screw everyone else.

Given the position they are in, I dont blame them. I dont see any team here if they were in their shoes taking that shite from their arch rival. Looks like they are coming though from the meeting today.

Don't start a land war in Asia, and don't get in a conference with unequal revenue sharing and Texas.

This.

I'm still trying to figure out this bitching about unequal revenue sharing with Texas. Weren't you guys promised a guaranteed 20 million at least as your yearly cut in the new deal?

Yes, we were promised at least $20 million as part of the conference disbursement, but it's like agreeing to having one leg cut off instead of both like the other conference members.

What I find interesting about that though is that if that number is legit and that was the lowest # you would get possible then as of today A&M would actually be taking a paycut to come to the SEC. I know contracts will be renogiated and that number should go up significantly but this year each SEC got $18.3 millions as their distribution. If that # doesn't go up by 2 million at least then A&M would be taking a huge step up in competition without a significant gain in compensation.

I saw projections of $24-26 million/team. Addition of the Texas TV market would increase SEC viewership by 40% or so. The #s are significant enough to warrant a look.

And it's about stability first. Not money for the first time in history
