Screw you, we don't want them. You flirted with them, now you're stuck with them.

From the OU press conference it looks like mizzou is locked into the big 12

I thought Mizzou was locked too? This could just be more posturing to make sure Texas play nice. I actually checked out the Mizzou board (format and layout is horrible) and there seem to be a grass root movement by students and alumni to try to get the leadership to leave the Big 12.

If in fact they "signed" the 6 year deal it's over - stuck till 2017. While everyone is looking for the $ , the Big12 (10-1) is fighting fo stability. TU bitches for a "few" more years. Sorry.

"No contracts had been signed yet in part because some schools must get the approval of their governing boards, league spokesman Bob Burda said."

From ESPN's article. You may be right. Could be more posturing for a better deal for Missouri, or maybe their is a rift in the Board. I'd guess posturing.

Mizzou hasn't signed anything yet:

quote:

When asked about the SEC, Deaton said that was another hypothetical and he wouldn’t elaborate further. Asked if the SEC was still in play, the administrator, who contacted The Star, said: “You will not look stupid by insinuating that.”

To me it seemed like Mizzou was for sure in the Big 12 the way the OU president was pandering to them today. He also stated that all 9 universities were committed into stabilizing the big 12. Which means he was only excluding one school Texas A&M. He had been talking to the Mizzou prior to the meeting.

Missouri's Board has to approve the contract with the Big XII. While Missouri's President may be committed to stabilizing the Big XII, it's possible the Board isn't as convinced.

Or they're just trying to hold out for a sweeter deal?

really wish that Brady would've expressed frustration instead of sounding naive and amused by OU's press conference. This is exactly what's wrong with the conference. When the PAC speaks it's Larry; Big 10 = Delaney; SEC = Slive. Big 12 looks like a bunch of unorganized arse clowns all speaking out of turn contradicting themselves.

Quote on a Mizzou board that says it best. The Big 12 still will not survive. Why did OU set up a press conference for that yesterday - it made zero sense and made them look bad. OU has turned into the arse clown of college football - I for one hope we get Mizzou and stay at 14.

Texas should like all these competitive programs leaving the conference. That way they can go out and add teams like BYU, Air Force, maybe TCU or some other lame arse sports program to add to their conference. That way all the schools bow down to TExas's huge ego and supposed greatness and they also should be able to dominate the conference, just like they want it..

i think Texas wants the conference to stay at 10 so it has an easier road to national titles, while other conference members want to expand to 12 members and be like a real conference.

So there may be friction.....

This is spot on.....Texas AD wants to say at 10. Everyone else seems to want at least 12, if not more.

I cant wait when OU, OSU and Mizzou all pack their bags for the SEC.

Texas will have no choice but to go independant...Not a great scenario or go PAc 12 and lose their precious little network.

I hope they stay in the Big 12. Maybe they can actually WIN the conference soon. If they move to the SEC winning a conference is out the window.

I can see where it makes life easier for them, but with all of the sentiment toward a playoff, this makes UT look a bit cowardly. I can understand not wanting to make your road harder than everyone else, but the AD is trying to turn Texas' path into Boise State's. I have to believe there are some longhorn fans unhappy with this guy... he's got no PR skills to say the very least.
