Louisville to the Big 12: Is this where conference realignment gets silly?

This makes no sense. TCU to the Big East and Louisville to the Big 12? These conference commissioners have lost their minds.

I can't think of a team that is a worse fit for a conference.

The Big 12 needs to add:

BYU
TCU
Air Force
Boise State (I know, I know. Academics/small school etc. A scrambling Big 12 can't be too picky)

I think football-wise, they may be better off with that 12 schools than the previous 12.

Really? TCU, AF, Boise, and BYU make a better conference than NU, CU, Mizzou, and TAMU? I think you may be a little off-base there.

But I agree, TCU should be added if they are going to add Louisville, but TCU doesn't add anything in terms of TV money so I could see why they are avoiding it.

It's not better from a traditional conference sense (alumni, fans, tradition, etc.)

However, if you check football winning percentages over the past 8-10 years, it's not even close.

apples and oranges...doesn't make sense to compare the records of these schools when they haven't had to play tough schedules.

So you don't think Boise and TCU are better football programs than Colorado, Missouri and Texas A&M over the past 10 years? I don't think it's even debatable, even playing field or not. They have both proven themselves in bowl games and non-conference games that they are legit. I think a case could be made that they have been better than Nebraska for much of that time period as well.

FYI, I don't think any of them are legit conference expansion targets in the normal sense, except for BYU. I just think if the Big 12 is going to get back to 10 or 12, they have to take some non-traditional teams.

Boise doesn't make sense for anyone because despite its football success, it is basically a junior college that is 2,000 miles away from ANYONE.

Yeah, Boise could work in the Big 12 for football, but not when you consider that it would cost half a million dollars to send your girls volleyball team up there for a couple matches.

I agree with that and have joked in the past about anyone suggesting Boise for a major conference. However, if the Big 12 drops to 8 teams, desperate times could call for desperate measures. If they were to add BYU and Air Force, along with Boise, that would lessen come of the travel.

Texas Tech to Louisville is no joy ride either. What about TCU to UConn, or just about every other Big East school? This whole thing is causing crazy travel scenarios.

Do you understand how much money that would cost Texas & OU?

well if they add wvu and louisville it gives those two schools a close travel partner. distance is daunting though. but wvu already travels to ny and florida.
