Yeah but what would you say to a guaranteed 5 million dollars a year more,

you won't be when the money shakes out - would probably end up making less than in the SEC

a championship game every year at Jerry World,

Big 12 would still probably be a highly uneven conference with all the power teams in one division - and if it isn't then LSU and Arky wouldn't be as interested in joining anyway since they wouldn't be playing texas, ou, A&M, each other

LSU and Arkansas are both west of the Mississippi not really geographical the southeast.

LSU is east of the Mississippi river and has a lot more history with bama, ole miss, auburn, uga etc than anyone other than maybe A&M in the Big 12

Anyone factored in the increased cost in travel expenditures for all sports?

HawgAlude, I would hate it! I could give a shite less about playing Texas, OU, Baylor, Texas Tech, Okie St., Mizzo, Kansas, Kansas St. or Iowas State unless it's in a bowl or an OOC game. But I do like playing the Aggies, they are fun to hate on. I live in Little Rock, spend half my week up in Northwest Arkansas and I don't think there are any legs like you say to this story. The Walton family likes the SEC, Mr. Stephens likes the SEC, the whole state fanbase and media like the SEC. I think the Hogs wish they could play Texas as an OOC game but I just don't think these Arkansans want to be in the Big 12 under the thumb of Texas. I don't think 5 million dollars would be worth it because there would be a revolt by the LSU alums and their checkbooks. Hell, the Walton family or Mr. Stephens can scratch out a 5 million dollar check like I can a $5 check. That is just my opinion on Arkansas but I'm a LSU alum so I'll speak for them. It would be a cold day in hell before a bunch of Cajuns got in a conference with a team full of northern yankees. It's just not going to happen.

because the information you have provided is based on the PAST

2009-2010. And it appears that you missed one key sentence......

This is the highest total ever distributed in SEC history and represents a 57.7 percent increase from the $132.5 million distributed to the schools in 2008-2009.

Did that get through? 57.7% INCREASE. Who knows what the numbers would be next year! I'll let you in on a little secret...they won't go down...that's for sure.

No sir, only fools think things will always be as they are today

I never said things will always be the same and the numbers above prove that. Moving forward, those numbers will increase once the ESPN deal is factored in.

I didn't say LSU should move to the Big 12, I said for discussion purposes its worth at least considering

What you ARE saying is this subject merits discussion and worth considering. I'm showing you numbers and referencing the latest conference shakeup to show you otherwise.

So again....how does this subject merit a discussion?

No, the proper terminology is hemorrhoid. Being a pain in the arse when it's neither warranted or needed.

yeah it is a bullchit story conjured up by a Kansas sports writer. How would he know Jerry Jones was even in it? I like the SEC. The money is better and the league is like a club. Especially when in Mississippi or Louisiana you know who reigns supreme.

This all What If and Make Believe. If you were to make a super conference with it and kick out the Baylors and Iowa States then add ND, LSU or Arky then it has potential.

Texas will be out of that conference 3 years tops. LSU would never leave the SEC, I don't give a shite who the Big 12 kicked out and brought in. The SEC is the school of the deep south. I have family members and relatives that went to LSU as well as Ole Miss, Miss. St., Bama, Auburn and even Georgia. One of the things I love about the SEC is how so many people in the south may have went to one school and end up being married to someone that went to another school in the SEC. That happens a lot in Mississippi and Alabama. The only thing that made sense out of any of this is Jerry Jones wanting to drum up some business and get games in his stadium. And if I paid over a billion bunks for that place, I don't blame him.

all you people that keep piping up that the Big 10 has more $$$ and always need to consider one of the big reasons that Texas allegedly preferred the PAC-10:

Demographics.

In case you haven't noticed, the Rust Belt is losing people every year faster than any other segment in the US, and most are now going south, not west.

The Big 10 Ntwk may have been a stroke of genius to get some serious cash flow short-term, but the southeast is where coffers will continue to get bigger as population, factories, etc., increase.

When was the last time two SEC teams finished the year undefeated? EXCLUDING THIS PAST YEAR where Mike "Sleesball'' Slive fixed games to insure an SEC participant in the national championship? NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The federal government should get involved to investigate the SEC (Not Securities Exchange Commision either) for cheating and bribery. As long as the SEC office is in Alabama, Tiger fans will be looking at Saban's rear-end up close. GET USED TO IT!!!!!! IF Les would bolt to the Little 12, he could guarandamntee 10 wins each year. It's funny that Pelini (Ohio State) talked Tom Osbourne into bolting for the Little 10 probably due to the time on the clock in the championship game against Texas. Les knows he can compete in the Little 12. He beat OU with Oklahoma State kids. Expect more Patrick Peterson calls in the Tigers' future as long as the Spammers run the conference. If the Tigers can't beat Florida this year, then it's time to leave the SEC, because LSU just can't cut it anymore. It was good to see the new NCAA president allow USC to get put on probation, who happened to be a from LSU. The NCAA will support anything LSU does now - even leaving the SEC.

This is the SEC, we have leadership guiding this conference. We are quite fortunate to combine excellent Conference Leadership with a great history of Football in the South. If Arkansas were to leave it would be purely for power and money from a few King makers with big egos. I don't see Arky Fans ever supporting that kind of move.
As far as LSU that will never happen.

Not really, LSU got $17.3M last year from the SEC. Texas and OU will both get over $20M under the new contract with Big 12...A&M and most of the others will get $17M.

Only if they put Billy Cannon on retainer.

You must be a Democrat if you think the government is the answer to fixing everything.

IMO, strongest conference, track record of strong payouts, a one loss SEC team still having a shot at the NCG, its a no brainer. Besides you have to dance with the one that brung ya, it's a classy move.

To pay out that money, it will bankrupt their conference...
