The big 12 is full of dogs besides a&m ou and ut. Ut want to be Independant and ou wants to be their lapdogs. So no reason to look at the big 12 after a&m switches

If the SEC resolved to take two Texas schools...

That would be like the Big 12 taking ULM and Troy to get the Bama and Louisiana markets.
Not at all. TCU has almost a $50million athletic budget. Bad comparison.
They have 0 popularity in state and less out of state. They can't even fill their their small stadium. They've sold out something like 3 times since 1985. Nobody in the state cares.

Baylor.
We would call them Vandy-west.

They'd probably be as good as any. Tech probably has the next biggest following after UT and aTm but it isn't substantial. Honestly after those 2 they all suck equally in terms of TV dollars, etc. I could see TCU gaining popularity in a big conference but honestly taking a second Texas team doesn't make sense. Expand east or somewhere like Mizzou makes more sense for TV markets.

Baylor is a good school but Rice would be more like Vandy in that regard.

OU not going anywhere... the current path to the BCS is more simple for them by just beating Texas in the Big 12. Stoops knows that he would have to win too many big games in the SEC (regular season plus the conference championship which is not as easy as the Big 12 North matchups he used to get)

I agree. OU can play Boise's schedule and get to the BCS game based on their name. Why mess with anything else until you need to.

I agree, Baylor... They have a Vandy-like endowment, great medical school, and great womens athletics that would definitely add power to the SEC

And taking the longview, Baylor's football is about the historic equal of Texas Tech. the Leach Era is the aberration, and they still didn't win a title. Not even a division.
Baylor's not as good academically as Rice, but it's still a really good school. Yet it at least barely cares about football to make it competitive, and they are are good in the non-revenue sports (4th in Big XII overall titles). It's Texas Tech with some of Rice's advantages. They'd be a good comp with Vandy if the SEC wanted the small school route.
TCU would end up being Vandy-level if it joined the SEC. Their current success is not sustainable.

frick UT and everything they stand for...I would support USM if LSU voted to let UT in the SEC...

because the gayhorns would never go to the SEC, there isn't another "big" school to go after.
ttech is too west coast for the sEc. plus it's in lubbock.
so A&M is all you can get.
rice, baylor, smu, tcu.....forget about it...really. sober up and then speak.
in all honesty, i prefer to keep it at 14 and pick up a couple of interesting OOC games each year. makes the football season interesting. and keeps each school in charge of a few "hot targets" available for scheduling.
for example LSU opening vs. oregon would not happen in an 16 team league. by the time we get to 16,. everybody will be at 16, and everybody will be "booked" for the few spots available OOC
just my opinion, but let every major conference go to 14 and see how that plays out; then evaluate further expansion.
