Just pointing it out. It's not like they're that close to each other. The whole "DC market" idea is overrated.

I'm not battling YOU. I'm battling the idea in general. Most are opposed to the addition of West Virginia. I think they'd be the best addition we could make.

Doesn't matter. The base is strong and there is support, so...
Take UF, for example. Atlanta is a HUGE market for UF, yet UF is 335 miles away from Gainesville.
Blacksburg is only 268 miles from DC, so I think it's a relevant market for them.

It's certainly a relevant market, I just don't think it should be the end-all-be-all.
Pittsburgh (Western Pennsylvania) has a huge amount of West Virginia alumni.
I think at some point it doesn't have to be all about markets between two schools. Obviously it's the most important thing, but I think there are 3 or 4 schools that all attract different big markets. Sometimes it should be about who just "fits."

in this poker game, maybe the SEC waits until it can get who they really want (UNC)
Mizzou is ok. cultural fit could be a problem. plus they've expressed Big 10 wet dreams too many times

UNC WILL NEVER BE IN THE SEC.

unc is not leaving the acc, certainly not without duke.

poker game in full force
UNC and VT = boom
you never know. the acc just expanded. with changes come new perspectives.
besides, who thought A&M and texas were going to be in separate conferences?

No.
UNC will NEVER leave Duke.
And the ACC is now the best basketball conference in the country. They're not leaving.

you obviously know jack shite about unc, vt, the acc, or anything else for that matter.
UNC WILL NEVER LEAVE THE ACC.
they'd probably be the last ones out to turn out the lights.
while we are at it, the ACC is in better shape than it ever has been.

UNC and Duke would never want to be associated with the SEC. The state the schools in the SEC are beneath them.
Along with UVA. Absolutely correct.

We'd have to take UNC and Duke.
And neither are leaving anyway.

lol uva would rather scrap its football program before it jumped in this cesspool

UNC leaving the ACC is about as likely as UA leaving the SEC.
There is no way in hell UNC would leave the ACC without Duke and the ACC totally collapsing.

I'm not trying to down play the SEC conference when I say this. I fully believe the SEC is the premier football conference in the nation. With that being said, some of you are deceiving yourselves if you think every school and a fan of that school is jizzing in their pants to be in the SEC. UVA, UNC, Duke, Wake Forest, and a few others are happy with the ACC...even if it means mediocrity in football. Because to them (us), there is more to a conference that football. There's a conference brand that consists of academics (you are who you associate with) and other non-revenue sports.

unc owns the acc like texas owns the big 12. john swofford, acc commissioner, is an alum and former athletic director of unc.

I was just thinking the same thing. They would actually bring more to the table than most of the schools that have been brought up in these expansion talks.

Unfortunately UNC has their hands full with the NCAA right now. They would be a great addition but I don't think they would ever leave the ACC due to Basketball considerations.
